Cheryl Gleason, an Elk Grove Village resident and parent of two daughters at Stevenson Elementary and one at Margaret Mead Junior High is serving as a Foundation ex-officio in her role as president of the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs. Cheryl previously served as the council Treasurer and three time President of the PTA at Stevenson Elementary. Cheryl is currently the Director of Operations at Living Hope Church in Elk Grove and one of her main passions is to partner with local groups and resources to help meet the needs of the community. Operating under the belief that two combined influences make a greater impact than just two influences, Cheryl is excited to help contribute to the Foundation’s success.

Take Action: Tell Your Representative to Support Funding for Statewide Family Engagement Centers in FY22

https://www.pta.org/home/advocacy/take-action

Now, more than at any other time, families are critical and primary to the success of their children. Congress must continue to recognize the important role of parents and families in a child’s education and support the Statewide Family Engagement Centers program. The best way to make your voice heard is by contacting your Representative today. It takes just a minute and will make a big impact. The deadline for your Representative to sign onto the SFEC letter is April 22nd!

04/13/2021

Please take 3-4 minutes to send a letter to your legislators to urge them to prioritize our children in the FY22 state budget. Click on the link below to go to a prepared letter that you can use as is or customize it to include your own reasons for supporting Evidence-Based Funding (EBF) Formula for education.

WHY?

The Illinois General Assembly is debating next year’s state budget now through the end of May. When the EBF formula was passed in 2017, the legislature committed to providing an additional $350 million dollars to the formula annually for at least ten years.

That commitment was broken last year when no additional funding was added to the formula. This year the governor has again proposed no additional funds for EBF. This is not acceptable for our children, their futures, and the future of Illinois.

The EBF formula is working. But, by not providing the promised additional funding, Illinois schools will fall further behind and that's not fair to our children.

Our children need your voice, send your letters today!
