Last night, we had the joy of honoring some of the faithful men and women who have dedicated years of service to the ministry of Schaumburg Christian School.

We recognized staff members in 5-year increments for their commitment to Christ-centered education, including one incredible staff member celebrating 30 years of faithful service. What a testimony of God’s faithfulness through generations of ministry.

At SCS, we know schools are not built through programs alone, but through people who faithfully pour into students day after day, year after year. We are deeply grateful for every teacher, coach, staff member, and leader who has invested their lives in building Conquerors for Christ.

We also had the privilege of presenting the Linda Orrender Memorial Award to Stephanie Schopf.

For almost 20 years, Linda Orrender faithfully served as a devoted teacher at Schaumburg Christian School. She deeply loved her students, loved teaching, and faithfully lived out her calling until she passed away from cancer in January of 2006.

This year’s recipient, Stephanie Schopf, exemplifies those same qualities through her love for students, commitment to excellence, and faithful service to SCS's ministry.

Congratulations, Stephanie, and thank you to all of our staff members who continue to serve with humility, excellence, and a heart for Christ. Your work matters eternally.

Last night, we celebrated the accomplishments, leadership, and Christ-centered character of several outstanding members of the Class of 2026.

VALEDICTORIAN: Tanish Dundi
SALUTATORIAN: Jena Bouji

We also had the privilege of recognizing students whose lives and leadership have reflected the heart of what it means to be a Conqueror.

The Dr. Frank W. Bumpus Memorial Scholarship was established in March of 1999 by Bethel Baptist Church to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Frank Bumpus, founder of Schaumburg Christian School. This scholarship was created to assist a deserving student pursuing Christian higher education and a life of ministry-minded impact.

This year’s Frank Bumpus Scholarship recipient is Mary Fields. Congratulations, Mary! We are thankful for your testimony, faithfulness, and heart for the Lord, and we are excited to see how God continues to lead your future.

Last night also marked the presentation of the inaugural McVey Legacy Award: Heart of a Conqueror.

The McVey family has faithfully demonstrated what it means to live with a servant’s heart: leading with humility, pursuing excellence, investing in others, and remaining deeply committed to Christ in every season. Their impact has been felt throughout our community for generations, through their faithful love and service to others.

This award will now be presented annually to a student who reflects those same qualities: someone devoted to Christ, driven by purpose, and defined by service.

This year’s recipient, Nathan Peterson, has consistently modeled what it means to be a Conqueror. Through humility, integrity, perseverance, and leadership, Nathan has positively impacted those around him both on and off the court. He continually pushed himself to grow, not for recognition, but to better serve and encourage others.

In athletics, Nathan led through action, often the first to arrive and one of the last to leave. He set the standard through hard work, consistency, encouragement, and selflessness, never asking others to do something he was unwilling to do himself.

But even beyond athletics, Nathan demonstrated the Christ-centered character that defines this award most deeply. His example reminds us that true leadership is found in faithfully serving others, honoring Christ, and pursuing excellence in the little things every day.

Congratulations to all of last night’s award recipients. We thank God for each of you and pray that you continue to live as Conquerors for His glory wherever He leads you next.

We are truly blessed to have an incredible music program at SCS! From violin lessons for our K5–12th-grade students to orchestra opportunities for 2nd–12th-grade students, our students are growing in both skill and confidence.

A special thank you to Miss Schmidt for the outstanding job she does directing this program with excellence and passion. Tonight’s concert was absolutely beautiful and such a joy to experience!

May our students continue to use their God-given gifts to glorify Him through their music and talents.
