Brightpoint’s Early Literacy Program, launched through a generous grant from United Way of Rock River Valley , is making a real difference for families connected to the Brightpoint Rockford Crisis Nursery! This initiative brings literacy-focused home visits to families, helping children ages 0-6 build early reading skills while giving parents the tools and support they need to be their child’s first teacher.
Through weekly home visits, an Early Literacy Specialist (ELS) guides parents and children in reading, writing, singing, and playing, fostering a love for learning from an early age. Families receive free books, parenting support, and even essential supplies like diapers and formula when needed.
One parent shared how the program has helped her daughter, Millie, thrive: "Stephanie and the ELS program allow Millie to have the one-on-one learning activities she deserves during the middle of the day." By integrating literacy support into home visits, Brightpoint continues to strengthen families with the tools and resources they need to help families and children thrive.

If your child is not feeling well please keep them home. Sending them sick will just cause the illness to spread, and your child will be affected again. Please consider the health of the staff as well.
