Students will follow their typical remote learning schedule, connecting with their teachers as they normally would on a remote day. Due to the dangerous road conditions, our employees may also work remotely.

CHURCHILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Steve Kern, Principal
(847) 357-6300
Dear Churchill Families:
Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education during such an unusual school year.
District 54 is examining revisions to our hybrid model, offering up to five full days of on-campus instruction for students. We say “up to five days” because we cannot finalize our plans until we confirm how many students will attend in person.
Unless we hear from you, students currently enrolled in the on-campus model will remain enrolled in on-campus as we expand the number of days, and students currently enrolled in remote learning will remain with remote learning.
Families wishing to change the enrollment for their children, please contact me by January 21. A start date for additional days of attendance will be communicated once we confirm the number of students attending in person. After this date, we will not be accepting changes in enrollment selection for the remainder of this school year.
We do not anticipate any changes to the current remote learning instructional day. We will continue to offer full remote instruction as an option for students throughout the pandemic.
Transportation will still be provided with limited seat capacity for all students who live more than 1.5 miles from school or those who would have to cross a safety hazard to attend school. Parent-paid transportation is not available.
We will continue to enforce numerous mitigation measures to keep our students and staff safe while they are at school. Everyone will be required to complete the D54 Screener and temperature check each day before entering a school or boarding a bus; to wear masks and social distance at school; and to stay home when they are ill or need to quarantine. We will continue to follow social distancing guidelines with desks 6 feet apart in our classrooms.
More information, including a list of frequently asked questions, can be found on our website at sd54.org/reopeningD54.
Thank you again for all of your support. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any specific questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Steve Kern, Principal

Are you new to District 54? Do you have an incoming kindergartner?
District 54 offers the opportunity for students to be a part of an additional curricular program to give them a unique learning experience outside of general education.
Join District 54 at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, for a virtual informational fair to learn more about the registration, application and acceptance process and timeline, transportation and the assignment of schools. Representatives from each school will also briefly introduce their programs.
In the weeks following the virtual fair, each school will have at least two additional informational sessions where you can learn more about that specific school, it's culture and curriculum and also take a virtual tour of the school. You will have the opportunity to talk to the principal and staff members.
Students must be registered at their District 54 neighborhood school before they can be accepted into an open enrollment program. Registration opens on February 3, 2021. Open Enrollment applications will open on January 27, 2021 at sd54.org/openenrollment and are due by March 5, 2021. (photos are from 2019 Open Enrollment programs)

En las semanas posteriores a la feria virtual, cada escuela tendrá al menos dos sesiones informativas adicionales donde podrá aprender más sobre esa escuela específica, su cultura y plan de estudios y también realizar un recorrido virtual por la escuela.
