Happy New Year!
We be closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas! We will be open normal time Sat. the 26th!
We can remain open, in short. Seems like it'll be similar to the way things were in June. No Beard-trims starting Friday.
"Starting Friday, all of Illinois is moving to Tier 3..." as announced at the Governor's daily COVID-19 press conference minutes ago. Please note that schools and personal care service businesses may still remain operational, but be increasingly mindful of capacity with some limitations to massage therapy and facials similar to Phase 3 earlier this year.

This is honestly very confusing for a lot of people. Summary: we are open still.
With recent announcement of Regions 5, 7, and 8 moving to Tier 2 mitigation, please note for those in Region 1 who have been under Tier 2 mitigations since October 25th that the state's guidance indicates possible movement to Tier 3 mitigation "If the positivity rate averages greater than or equal to 8 percent after 14 days..."
While salons and barbershops as well as schools have not seen increased restrictions in Tier 1 and 2 mitigation, Tier 3 does include a restriction to "Suspend salon and personal care operations."

This should reduce some of the rumors we've been hearing a lot of lately, we are still open under current Phase 4 guidelines!
Stay at Home Order Rumor Clarification...
As active members of your communities, you may have recently heard rumors from "connected" individuals regarding possible statewide return to a Phase 3 stay at home order shortly after the election (note: Illinois is currently in Phase 4 with varying levels of resurgence mitigation focused on bars/restaurants and large social gatherings).
At the Governor's daily press conference today, he was directly asked about this stay at home rumor twice, with one reporter citing to a "pretty reliable source," to which the Governor stated "that's not a plan, no...whatever you heard is not accurate, I have not had any discussions about that." When addressing new restrictions at several points during questioning, the Governor otherwise noted the state's resurgence mitigation tiers, which are tied to multi-week review periods after each mitigation tier starts and are mostly focused on bars/restaurants as well as large social gatherings.
"These mitigations do not apply to schools..."
As more regions are put into mitigation tiers due to increased COVID-19 transmission, please keep in mind that "These mitigations do not apply to schools..." according to the official state announcements, and that salons have their own explicit category in the mitigation plan linked here:
https://illinoisgov.force.com/coronavirus/s/restore-illinois-mitigation-plan
Only the northwest Region 1 is in mitigation Tier 2, where the additional limitation on a salon potentially occurs when "tied to outbreak"; however, the state has not included any temporary shutdown language for salons in their linked Tier 2 description for Region 1.
https://www.dph.illinois.gov/regionmetrics?regionID=1
As another reminder, Phase 4 does already have a "maximum occupancy of 50% of capacity" limit for salons.

Have a safe and happy 4th!
Phase IV Guidelines! Still no beard trims permitted unless a student provides their own shielded face-mask! We can also have up to 50% capacity and use blow-dryers!
The state published Phase 4 guidelines this morning, which is linked below for the beauty industry.
Of note, the capacity maximums are set at socially distanced 50% capacity, and there appear to be some clerical errors in the guidelines such as not providing a customer face mask exception to allow for facials and beard trimming. After speaking with the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity shortly after the guideline publication, this should be getting corrected.
The department also agreed to consider written communication separate from the published guidelines to help provide clarity to schools returning students to the clinic floor and classrooms. The association will work to have those clarifications completed as soon as possible this week.

As of May 29th, we are open! Spread the word, see you tomorrow!
[05/25/20] We just sent out a mass email to currently enrolled students. explaining our reopening, if you have questions ask here or message me. Please don't " reply-all" on the email!
We are planning to reopen our institution this Friday under the phase 3 guidelines! Students and customers must supply their own face masks, no more than 20 customers in the facility at one time and everyone must abide by the social distancing standards. Leave of absences will be granted to any of our students who were currently enrolled as per last day we opened before the shut down. Please contact us on Friday with any additional questions.
Phase 3 Guidance Issued...see the link below, but some highlights:
* Includes hair salons, hair braiders, barber shops, nail salons, spas, massage parlors, waxing centers, tattoo parlors, tanning salons, cosmetology schools, hair club services and other providers of personal care services
* Includes services that can be performed while customer and employee are wearing a face covering over their nose and mouth
* Sets a maximum of 50% of capacity OR 5 customers allowed per 1000 sq. ft. of usable space (For salon suites, capacity limits should be applied within each suite)
