Before I start meeting with my own groups, I have been lucky enough to participate in all the 3, 4, 5, 6 classrooms these first two days! I was so impressed with Ms. Smith’s 3rd graders today as they combined teamwork with STEM thinking to build the tallest pencil towers. Great work kiddos! 👍🏻

Wow! Is the summer almost over already? I am looking forward to meeting all of my wonderful students this year in 3rd, 4th, 5th, AND 6th grade. And to all you 7th graders, please remember to come visit! See you all soon!

Just a little personal update today— today was the day that I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Education. So much has changed since the day I stepped out of ISU with my Bachelor’s and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This year was especially important because each of your students was able to contribute to my research needed to complete the degree. It was a project I worked on ALL year and that the kids were very familiar with. I related a lot of the things we were doing in class to my “100 page paper” and I wanted to let them know I was successful in the end! It just goes to show you that hard work and dedication will pay off in the end. I can’t wait for the day my students share their graduation pictures with me ❤️❤️

It has taken me a few days to bring myself to say goodbye. I don’t have many pictures from the last day because I was running around with the kiddos. This group was one of the best I have ever had, and the perfect one to end my reign (for now) as a classroom teacher. I love each and every one of them for their own special reasons and will truly miss them as they continue their journeys. I’ve been telling them all year that they MUST come back over the years to visit. It’s truly been a privilege to be their teacher and help them grow into amazing people. ❤️❤️❤️

Having lots of fun on our last day of math planning our dream vacations. Students got a budget and had to account for all the expenses of a vacation. We had students “traveling” all over the world! Take me with! 🌎 ✈️

We had a visitor today! My mom brought her dog to come show the kids all the tricks he knew and teach them about dog sports. Too bad Maxx got a little stage fright and only wanted to play! He showed them how he is trained to sniff out smells as he went to find some of our friends in hide and seek. He found them every time!

Please bring them in ASAP :)

How else to describe Field Day but amazing?! 209 represented my alma matter, Illinois State University, fantastically! They were team players, competitive, determined, and had a great time all day! Reggie would have been proud. I am one lucky teacher to have been given the opportunity to teach these great kiddos all year ❤️🍎

Part of our Capstone Project for the end of the year was to choose the “best part” of ourselves and write a narrative or a poem describing that part and why it’s the best. Here are some of the sweet photos the kids took to go with their writing. Sometimes it is good to brag about yourself!
Can you guess what each student chose?
