Today our summer campers visited the local farmers market in Schaumburg, and what a wonderful experience! The market was bustling with fresh fruits and vegetables, beautiful plants, baked goods, and delicious savory treats. We had the opportunity to sample fresh strawberries, honey, apple cider, tortilla chips, salsa, and more.

The children eagerly asked farmers and vendors lots of questions and learned so much about where our food comes from.

Did you know that the color of honey depends on the type of flowers the bees collect nectar from? We also discovered the difference between apple juice and apple cider, learned that you can grow strawberry plants from fresh strawberries, and found out that some mushrooms can double in size within just 24 hours!

One of the highlights of the day was seeing and touching a Lion's Mane mushroom for the very first time. It was a fascinating hands-on learning experience filled with curiosity, discovery, and fun!
