The Masked Singer🎭🎤🎶

To celebrate our students successfully achieving the PBIS school-wide challenge for Whole Body Listening, we held a very special event: The Masked Singer Assembly! The room was filled with excitement as students put their detective skills to the test. There were plenty of laughs and cheers as students guessed which teachers were singing & dancing in disguise. It was a fun & memorable way to recognize the positive behavior we’ve seen across all grade levels!

District 54 Schools Unite for St. Jude’s❤️💙

During the month of April, District 54 schools are raising funds to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude's is dedicated to advancing cures and prevention for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

To encourage participation, we are raising money through a ‘Tape-a-Teacher’ event. Dirksen students & families can donate by filling the bucket of the teacher they’d most like to see be taped to the wall. The teacher whose bucket has the most money by the end of the 3-week fundraising period will be the one who gets taped to the wall during an all-school event on Friday, 5/8.

In just ONE week, Dirksen has raised over $400 for St. Jude’s! And we aren’t done yet - we are still collecting donations every morning until Friday, May 1st!

If you ordered Culver’s hot lunch for tomorrow (1/23), it has been rescheduled! It will now be delivered on Tuesday, January 27th! Thank you for your understanding & a huge thank you to our AMAZING PTA for quickly setting this us for our Dolphins!

All District 54 schools and offices will be closed on Friday, January 23, 2026, due to the forecasted winter weather conditions. Tomorrow will be a traditional school closure, not an e-learning day.

As a reminder, under the District 54 School Board's approved e-learning plan, the first two emergency days used each school year are traditional school closures. This is the first day District 54 has been closed this year. If District 54 has to cancel a third day, we would implement our e-learning plan and you would receive a communication explaining how to access e-learning.

District 54 makes every effort to keep our schools open, but circumstances beyond our control (such as Chicagoland winters) sometimes make it unsate for our students to get to school safely. Our number one priority every day is keeping children safe.
