I went to four professionals, and I still couldn’t walk normally.

They were skilled at what they did. But in my particular case, something was still missing.

That experience with sciatica eventually forced me to look at the problem differently — and it had a major influence on the way I work today.

I don’t want to give away the story yet.

Next week, I’ll share what happened, what I tried, and what finally made me start asking different questions.

Have you ever dealt with sciatica that just wouldn’t go away?

MAT looks at whether muscles can respond and support movement the way they should. When certain muscles are weak or inhibited, the body starts to compensate — and that is often when tightness, instability, or pain begin to show up.

This is also why MAT has helped many clients who felt like they had already tried everything. Instead of only chasing the symptom, we look at what may not be supporting the body underneath it.

If your body still feels off no matter what you have tried, it may be time to look deeper.

There’s something deeply reassuring about finding someone who truly understands what your body is going through.

Patricia has trusted Ed Morand on and off for years, and what continues to stand out to her is not just the care she receives — but the personal concern, the thoughtful approach, and the confidence that she is in the right hands.

Ed has helped her through different issues, including knee pain. But like many people, it was never just about one painful area. It was about being heard, understood, and helped by someone who takes the time to look deeper.

If you’ve been dealing with recurring pain or movement issues and feel like you’re still searching for the right help, you’re not alone.

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆?

In many cases, yes.

Pain and tightness are often your body’s way of protecting you. When a muscle becomes inhibited or temporarily shuts down, your body limits motion and creates tension to hold you back from moving into a position it does not trust.

That is why things can feel stiff, guarded, or uncomfortable.

When the right muscles are activated in the right way, that protective pattern can ease — and sometimes the change is significant.

If your body keeps holding back, it may be time to look at how it is functioning.

Athletes come in all the time saying the same thing:
“𝗜’𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.”

What we’re looking at is not how much you can lift—
but whether a muscle can respond when it’s placed in a specific position.

If it doesn’t respond to force, it’s not doing its job. And when that happens, the joint doesn’t have the support it needs.

That’s when things start to feel off.

If something isn’t responding the way it should, it may be time to look at how your body is actually functioning.

Strength isn’t just about output—it’s about response.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺?

Tightness is often treated as the main issue. But many times, it is the body protecting an area that feels weak or unstable. When certain muscles are not contributing properly, other muscles tighten to hold things together.

That is where , MAT Practitioner can help. By identifying inhibited muscles and restoring their function, the body can move with better support and less compensation.

If the same tightness keeps coming back, it may be time to find out what your body is compensating for.

Tightness is often the signal.
Weakness and inhibition may be the real issue.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴?

Muscles don’t just shut down from injury. Overuse and sustained positions can do the same thing.

When you sit, stand, or hold a position that your body struggles to support, it starts to compensate. Other muscles take over just to keep you upright.

Over time, that pattern sticks.
That’s when you start to feel:
• Tightness
• Discomfort
• Difficulty moving normally again

Even after the activity is done.
Tightness is often the result of compensation — not just the position you were in.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀… 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.

After a thorough assessment, Ed Morand focused on what her body needed most — restoring proper muscle function.

Halfway through the session, she was already able to sit and stand with 50% less pain.

Within a few days, she felt 80% better.
And in just one week, she was back to dancing like nothing happened.

When the right muscles start doing their job again, recovery can feel completely different.

If you’ve experienced pain that keeps coming back, it may be time to address what’s really causing it.

Runner’s foot pain is not always just a foot problem.

The foot is where load meets the ground, so it often feels the effects of poor support from the trunk and hips, or lower back. That is why the symptom may show up in the foot, even when the deeper issue starts somewhere else.

If the same foot pain keeps coming back, it may be time to look beyond the symptom and discover the root cause of the pain.
