What a week! Peter Newman, Brandt Carlgren, Connor Garman, and Ms. Becker spent last Tuesday through Saturday at FFA Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) in Washington, DC. They participated in activities including touring many of the famous monuments and museums, creating Living to Serve plans to continue doing their part in the chapter and local community, meeting state representatives at the Capitol, and making new friends from across the county! Thank you to National FFA Staff and Ms. Mary Kane for coordinating a fun-filled week, and to both our local Pike Valley FFA Alumni and Supporters and Kansas FFA Alumni and Supporters for your generosity to allow us to participate in these opportunities!

What a week it has been for PV FFA at State FFA Convention! Here are the main highlights of the week:

- Erica Lieb is the Agricultural Education Proficiency Award winner! She has spent 3 years and over 800 hours on many FFA events and lessons that are included in her SAE, so we are so excited for her and this honor!
- Erica also ran for State FFA Office - though it may not have turned out as we hoped, we are incredibly proud of Erica for taking a risk and completing the long growth process of running for state office!
- Lanee Bray competed in State Creed Speaking and did a great job!
- Peter Newman and Brandt Carlgren were recognized for receiving scholarships from Kansas FFA Alumni to attend WLC (Washington Leadership Conference) in June
- Tarryn Isaacson participated in State FFA Chorus and also sung the National Anthem at the 4th Session
- Olivia Swagerty participated in State FFA Band
- Pike Valley was recognized as being part of the Chapter Seed Program and was accepted on stage by Emma Allison and Rilee White
- Connor Garman and Elise Lieb served as the chapter’s delegates
- Members also toured the local area with stops at Milford Hatchery and Nature Center, Hildebrand Dairy, Sunset Zoo, Pillsbury Crossing, and also might have participated in a dodgeball game or two!

Fun was had by all attendees and made for a great week! Thank you to the countless volunteers and staff that made this week such a success!

We are so excited for Erica to run as a State Officer Candidate next week! Wish her the best of luck as prepares for this process and hopefully is elected as a Kansas FFA State Officer!

Excited about the alumni’s annual golf tournament again this year to support our students! Join us for golf, lunch, and good times!

We are excited to share that we are hosting our 3rd Annual 3-Man Scramble! Our golf event has been a great success over the past two years, that we’ve been able to raise over $6,000 to go towards scholarships and assistance to our local Pike Valley FFA Chapter.

We have opened up our tournament to 15 teams this year so grab your best pals, come out and have some fun at this years fundraiser!

The PV FFA’ers had a successful few days in Manhattan for State FFA CDEs! Out of hundreds of students from across the state with high levels of competition, the Nursery & Landscape Team placed 7th and the Farm & Agribusiness Management Team placed 10th - high honors that we are proud of these students for accomplishing!

Congratulations to Erica Lieb for being selected as a top 3 finalist in the state for her Agricultural Education SAE & Proficiency Award!! We wish her the best of luck as we hear the winner at State FFA Convention at the end of the month!

Kansas FFA Members Named Proficiency Award Finalists:

Congrats to the top 3 finalists in each of our Proficiency Award areas! These members will be recognized at the Kansas FFA Convention May 27th - 29th for their work in their Supervised Agriculture Experiences. On stage during Sessions 2 and 3, one member will be named the award winner.
