Students are back from Long Weekend and are excited to continue their projects throughout campus! Mrs. Sobel's English class had a special guest today, Vietnam Veteran, Saxtons River resident, and former VA faculty member John Bohannon, who talked about his experience and showed photos from his time in Vietnam, as they finished the book The Things They Carried.

This weeks sports highlight is the Mountain Bike Team!

Competing in the Lakes Region Division, the Vermont Academy Mountain Bike Team takes on cross-country racing while also exploring freeride and downhill disciplines. With an ever-evolving mountain bike trail network on campus and over 40 km of trail systems featuring excellent single and double track, our student athletes have an incredible environment to train, challenge themselves, and grow as riders.

The team’s goals each season are to compete at a high level while building technical riding skills, endurance, confidence, and a lifelong passion for the sport. Whether navigating challenging climbs, technical terrain, or fast descents, Vermont Academy mountain bikers push their limits both on the trails and beyond.

What an amazing weekend! Families, alumni, faculty and staff (current and former), students, trustees (current and former), friends of Vermont Academy, two former Vermont Academy Headmasters, one former Head of School, and our current Head of School all together on our hilltop to celebrate Family Weekend, Reunion, and the 150th anniversary of our founding. Being together in community on a glorious Vermont fall weekend was truly amazing. We celebrated our history as we looked to the future.

Families and alumni visited classes, chatted with Head of School Mike Peller, cheered on our athletic and musical Wildcats, alumni shared their journeys with today's students, our trails were explored on bike and foot, and we all were treated to a spectacular fireworks display and celebratory dinner with honored guests Senator Peter Welch and Representative Michelle Bos-Lun. It was also a time to reconnect with each other.

The excitement about and gratitude for Vermont Academy was shared throughout the weekend.

The future is bright...this is our moment!

Weekly Sports Highlight: Vermont Academy Cross Country! Competing in the Lakes Region League and wrapping up the season at the NEPSAC Division III Cross Country Championship, our student athletes challenge themselves in head to head meets and invitational competitions against schools from across the Northeast.

Cross Country gives every runner the opportunity to push their limits and build lifelong confidence. With 15 Vermont Academy runners earning All-New England honors over the past six years and recent graduates continuing their running careers at the University of Vermont and St. Michael’s College, the program continues to develop student-athletes who thrive both on the course and beyond.
