🦌It's the middle of fawning season for White-tailed Deer all over North Carolina. Many visitors have seen fawns here at Crowder, either bedding down in the underbrush or crossing the trails with mom.

🌾Does will leave fawns in tall grass or forest beds while they're feeding for a few hours at a time. This is an excellent survival tactic, since fawns are virtually scentless and their white spots provide camouflage.

If you find a fawn bedded down, remember that it is best to leave it alone. Mom is likely to return soon. Do not move or touch bedded down fawns.
