Lost another Bulldog, a good man!

SAVONA, NY.; Henry McElwee Robie, 90, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. He was the son of Hilda Tefft Robie and Reuben McElwee Robie. He graduated from Savona Central School in 1954. He married Katherine Louise Brownson on October 27, 1956. He is predeceased by his wife.

He grew up in Savona, New York and worked the family farm. After his marriage he enlisted and served his country in the Army. For part of the time he was stationed in Korea. He was employed by Ingersoll Rand for 40 years as a machinist. He carried those skills over into retirement repairing and crafting many projects. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening and working his property. He was an avid Bluebird enthusiast and member of the New York State Bluebird Society. He operated the NYS Bluebird Society exhibit at the Bath Fair and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of bluebirds. He has built many Bluebird and wood Duck houses that are located throughout the area. He traveled to Vermont many times visiting his life long friends Ellen and Bob Robbins. (predeceased by both). He also enjoyed many games of Euchre with family and past coworkers of Ingersoll Rand.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife, brother Clinton Tefft Robie, sister Lucy Rose Mayer, son Douglas Robie, granddaughter Megan Robie and grandson Derrick Robie.

He helped raise 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren during his life.

He is survived by his children Darlene and Don Earley of Van Etten, Dale and Doreen Robie of Savona, Donita and Emmett Graham of Savona, Dianna and Adam Stevens of Riverview, FL, Dean and Jessica Robie of Savona, Dawn Gatton of Savona, daughter in law Carol Robie of Bath, brothers Charles Edward Robie and James Lyon Robie, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Calling hours are being observed on Monday March 10, 2025 from 11:00 to 1:00pm at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath where his Funeral Service will be at the end of calling at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Seaman Cemetery Savona, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to NYS Bluebird Society/NYSBS.org.

SAVONA, NY, Shirley Lynn Travis Davis, 57, of Savona, NY., passed away peacefully November 9, 2024 after a long hard- fought battle with cancer.

Shirley was born on February 23, 1967 in Urbana, NY the daughter of Shirley Sprague Travis and Delbert Travis.

Shirley graduated from Savona Central School in 1985 then attended Central City Business Institute in Syracuse.

Shirley married Michael Davis July 16, 1988 at the Savona Federated Church with Charles Robards Officiating.

Shirley and Michael's love story started as a blind date on December 5, 1984. Their thirty- six years of marriage flourished with daughter Felicia Marie Seaman born in 1985 and their son Shane Michael Davis born in 1993.

Shirley worked for Steuben County Public Health as a senior clerk for 35 years before retiring in 2022.

Shirley was an avid NASCAR fan who especially loved Team Hendrick drivers. She loved riding on the Harley with Michael and especially enjoyed riding with the Red Knights. She enjoyed many weekends doing charity bike rides and camping. Shirley loved to visit special places North Carolina. Her favorite where the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the quaint town of Cherokee, NC.

Our favorite memories of Shirley are her sense of humor, her big heart and her love of cooking and baking. Shirley loved to share her passion in the kitchen with others. She especially loved baking and decorating holiday cookies with her grandkids.

Remaining to cherish Shirley's memory are her husband Michael, her children Felicia (Tyler) and Shane (Jessica), her grandchildren Bryon, Greyson, Kinsley and their mother Cassie and Christian, Noah, Shane Jr. and their mother Jessica, her father-in-law Glen (Linda) Davis and many special nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents Shirley and Delbert Travis, her mother-in-law Connie Gleason and her husband Dorman Gleason.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley will be held on Sunday February 23, 2025 from 2:00 to6:00pm at the Bath Fire Department. There will be a prayer Memorial at 2:30pm.

Memorial donations in Shirley's name can be made to the Red Knights #42 to support the Wounded Warrier Project. Donations can be mailed to 50 East Morris Street Bath, NY 14810.

Douglas McCann, 65, passed away on November 23, 2024, at his home in Savona, NY, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born on June 28, 1959, to Gordon and Alberta McCann.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children: LeeAnn Dickson (Brett), Stacy Brazie (Dave), Jolynn Haight (Nick), Amy Pietrzak (Bob), Cody Morehouse, and Buddy and Charli; and 11 grandchildren: Ali, Brady, Tanner, Carli, Kierstyn, Brock, Morgan, Casey, Sierra, Trentyn, and Koltyn and his great-granddaughter, Luna, his father, Gordon McCann, his sister, Carole Tombs, and his brother, Chris McCann. He was predeceased by his mother, Alberta McCann; his brother, Jeff McCann; and his faithful dog, Thunder.
Doug attended Savona Central School and worked for local highway departments where he made lifelong friends, retiring from the Town of Orange. He also owned and operated several family businesses, including Doug’s Auto Sales, McCann Auto Parts, McCann‘s 4x4 Center, and The Outer Limits.
Doug was a member of the 88A Race Team, and he also raced the number 44 car at Black Rock Speedway. After the passing of his brother and partner in crime, Doug went on to create the 4JM Race Team and Wrecker Service. He passed on his love for “rubbing is racing” down throughout his kids and grandkids.
He was known for running on “McCann time”, and his signature mustache, one that was often braided by his granddaughters. Doug was also known for his incredible card-playing skills, and winning ability in games like Liar’s Poker. He loved anything with wheels or a motor, and had a passion for equipment. He will always be remembered for his hard work, never missing an auction, his humor, and his love for his family and friends - always lending a helping hand.
Some of his proudest and greatest moments were watching all of his grandchildren’s sports, and spending time with his family.
Doug played a special and unique role in everyone’s life. He had a nickname for everyone he was close to and he will be extremely missed.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 27 from noon to 1pm at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home, 107 E. Steuben St. Bath, NY. Where a funeral service will follow calling hours at 1pm.
A private burial will be in Seamans Cemetery, Savona, NY.
