The Georgia Film Academy is now offering the GFA 1000 Intro to film and TV production for the Spring 2024 semester on campus at Savannah State University.

This means that students who want to take the GFA classes for the certification can register directly for this course without having to apply to the college for a degree program.
Also, the class is offered on Saturday which is great for those who work full time on a m-f job!

GFA 1000 Introduction to Film & Television Production
Saturdays 10:00am – 4:00pm
January 13 – April 20, 2024

Savannah State University is hosting a Georgia Film Academy (GFA) information session this Thursday, November 16, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Join us at Whiting Hall 110 (SSU TV Studio) to hear from Scott Votaw, assistant vice chancellor for the University System of Georgia, where he leads GFA, about opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the film, television and digital entertainment industries.

On Tuesday, March 21, there will be a screening of the documentary film “Descended: The Fight for Harris Neck”. It explores an ongoing land battle in Harris Neck, Georgia. In 1942, the U.S. war department seized 2,687 acres of land from a self-reliant community of 75 African American families.

The screening, brought to you by the Office of Academic Affairs, Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, the History and Africana Studies departments and the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences, will be held in the Norman B. Elmore Theater in the King-Frazier Student Center Complex, 6 p.m.

Hurry Up!! TOMORROW is the last day to apply for the Production Assistant Class in taught by DGA Assistant Director, Witt Lacy!! Sponsored by Savannah Regional Film Commission

This training is offered at no cost and is ideal for those who want to, and are serious about, starting to work in the entertainment industry.

The class will take place Saturday October 1st & Sunday October 2nd - 8AM to 4PM (Each Day).

You MUST be available both training days, be at least 18 years old, have legal status to work within the United States, and a local resident of the Savannah region.

Student applicants must be seniors, or graduate students with open availability to work. Spaces are limited and submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the training.
