A week ago you were strangers. Now, you're classmates, collaborators, and friends. ๐๐
Pre-Bee gave our newest SCAD students a chance to explore SAV + ATL, build community, and settle into their new hive before the quarter begins. We canโt WAIT to see what you create, SCAD Bees!

The whimsy + โwhy?โ behind her design eye โ๏ธ
You may have seen SCAD alum Laura Garcรญaโs graphic design work around town โ sheโs the designer behind the most ICONIC SCAD stickers and merch!
She leans into the whimsical with bold color, strong contrasts, and her signature illustrated elements. For Laura, great design goes way beyond the aesthetic and begins with the mission of connecting with her audiences.
๐ โTo my fellow soon-to-be Bees: Don't get lost in comparison. It's easy to spend so much time looking at others that you lose sight of your own voice. The creative world doesn't need more loose copycats, it needs more unapologetically creative people.โ โ Laura Garcรญa (M.A., graphic design and visual experience, 2026)

Lights. Camera. Catalog. ๐ธโจ
Go BTS of the 2026 SCAD catalog cover shoot. From finding the perfect frame to chasing the right light, every image brought photographer An Le (B.F.A., photography, 2012) one step closer to a cover that invites you into your SCAD story.
โI want them to imagine they are in the scene or think about how the scene came to be or even how they would have photographed it. I hope this image conveys the excitement of coming to SCAD as a new student. Itโs this surreal scene, and it leaves space to dream. I want them to want to see more, to see whatโs inside the catalog and whatโs waiting for them here at SCAD.โ

"I design for empathy," agrees Carter Spainhour (B.F.A. industrial design). "To be able to impact someone positively with a single product is what I aspire to do." As summer carries on, Carter is clear on one thing: "Everybody needs an industrial designer."
Carter has spent the past eight weeks interning at Clinique, elevating the brand's beauty and skincare product line as a member of its packaging and design team.

Style is always one step ahead โ so are the people shaping it.
The Athlete's Foot x Saucony brought โStyle Isn't Static: Back to School Editionโ to Atlanta with a conversation celebrating the next generation of creative voices including four standout SCAD Bees who shared their perspectives on creativity and the future of sneaker design:
Adrienne Archuleta (B.F.A., illustration, 2026)
Trevor Lloyd (B.F.A. fashion marketing and management)
Caliyah Kay Valentine (B.F.A. fashion marketing and management)
Andrew Yi (B.F.A., UX design, 2025)
Repost The Athlete's Foot:
Adrienne Archuleta is a SCAD-trained illustrator, sneaker designer, and one of the few women to complete SCADโs sneaker design minor (the first of its kind in the U.S.). Sheโs designed for the Serena Williams Design Crew x Nike, showcased at the SCAD FASHION runway show, and founded the SCAD Sneaker Club โ sheโs a trailblazer and community builder.
Trevor Lloyd is a SCAD student studying fashion marketing and management. A former assistant manager at A Ma Maniรจre and founder of his own brand Sangre Real, he is also a Fashion Scholarship Fund recipient and a Virgil Abloh Post-Modern Scholar. His story is one youโll want to hear firsthand.
Caliyah Valentine is a stylist and a leading voice in Atlantaโs female streetwear scene, with a community that moves when she does. Her eye is shaping how the next generation of women show up.
Andrew Yi is a SCAD grad and bespoke sneaker designer who makes and mends footwear from the ground up. That young-craftsman perspective is the disruptive energy this panel needed, a reminder that great style starts with whatโs underneath it.
In the sneaker design minor at SCAD, students develop knowledge and skills in sketching, rendering, concept development, design, digital prototyping, and branding for luxury and high-performance sneakers. Working with leading-edge virtual-reality technology, students amplify possibilities for innovative and sustainable sneaker design and manufacturing.

Every year, SCAD students prove that creativity keeps giving. ๐
After June move-out, thousands of donated art supplies, from markers and paint brushes to paper and organization bins, found a new home in Savannah-Chatham classrooms. Through SCAD's annual donation event, local art teachers are able to stock up on the materials they need to inspire the next generation of artists!
SCAD Serve donates thousands of art supplies to local educators
Dozens of Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) teachers filled the SCAD Oglethorpe House Residence Hall on Tuesday for SCAD Serveโs art supply donation event.
