Dear White Bluff Families,
We are excited to invite you to our Black History Month Celebration on Friday, February 27th at 10:00 AM!
This year, our theme is “The Dream in Motion: A Freedom March Realized.” We are honored to celebrate the legacy of individuals whose courage, leadership, and sacrifice created lasting change. Not only for the African American community, but for all people and races. Their contributions have helped shape our nation and continue to inspire future generations.
Students are invited to dress as a famous African American figure who has made a significant impact in history, or to wear traditional African attire or colors (Red, Black and Green in combination). This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about and represent influential leaders, innovators, artists, activists, and trailblazers.
As part of our celebration, students and staff will participate in a “Freedom March Realized” around the school campus. Parents and visitors are welcome to watch, and we warmly invite you to join your child in the march if you would like! Families are also encouraged to dress in costume to fully participate in this meaningful experience.
During the march, students and staff will sing traditional songs of unity and hope, including “We Shall Overcome” and other well-known spirituals that were significant during the Civil Rights Movement. The march will culminate school's field, where we will gather for a special program featuring a guest speaker who will highlight the African American journey and the many contributions made to our great nation. Selected students will also share powerful excerpts from historic speeches that continue to inspire change and progress.
Please join us as we honor the past, celebrate progress, and inspire the future together. We look forward to celebrating with you!
Please know that student participation is voluntary. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please simply message your child's teacher.
Warm regards,
Robert Lewis
