After an important staff meeting, and unforeseen circumstances, we EXTENDED our youth art portfolio program deadline to Aug 21, 2021 from Aug 1. We hope this helps the many parents who requested more time to apply. Perhaps it was meant to be? :)
While we begin a couple weeks later, we still provide the full 20 weeks instruction we originally planned! View the video for all the details and share with others who need an art program for their kids auditioning for an art high school in 2022.

I’m just gonna come out and say it: perfection is not the goal. We only have one life to live, and erasers aren’t included except in art class, so let’s all pledge to love our imperfectness, shall we?
With that, let’s give ourselves grace as well when our art isn’t as perfect as we’d like. Practice doesn’t make perfect but it definitely improves the road to it. Enjoy the process of becoming.
Look for our new art classes coming up soon on our website! (of course we'll announce when enrollments are ready) What do you want to see on our calendar this fall?

Need a little push to make time to create art? Here are a few reasons to start NOW: 1. Time is more fun when you’re “in the zone” than thinking about it 2. No one will paint those paintings but you so you’re kind of important to the process and 3. Make it fun and personal by simply telling everyone you’re “in therapy” an hour or two. Art is a form of self therapy and when stuck on time, do you find that is the excuse because you have to go deeper or try again or because you’re really stuck on time? Do art for 30 minutes and over time, you’ll find that’s just a tease. :)

Do you ever wish you could erase your mistakes and start over? C’mon, don’t lie to me now, as artists we all do! ;) But with mistakes we learn and get better so instead of erasing my mistakes, I’m expressing gratitude for them… and you should do the same! What’s one lesson you learned from an artistic mistake you created recently?

Just a little art humor for you all today! 😉😂

Anyone else need a little more calm and focus in their lives? I can't be the only one (Tatiana here). I'm currently finding it in drawing with charcoals as I finish up a new figure drawing art lesson. I forgot how methodical and meditative the strokes can be when reaching for the correct value. It's like OCD heaven... LOL
This drawing, "Dominique", will be part of our fall figure drawing video course! Make sure to watch out for it when we open enrollment. (I'm still filming the finishing details before I edit video) In the meantime, tell me what you're finding calming in your life right now. :) 🎨

How is your day so far? Would it be even better if I shared a tip about being an artist? Well, here it is! *Do not judge your work.* I know, this is H-A-R-D but I’m telling you, your job is to create and it is the audience’s job to judge. The more you produce, the higher your chances of better inventory. Have questions? Fire away!

Right now, Lind and I are aiming to get the Youth/Teen Portfolio Prep program up and running, and the light at the end of the tunnel is late July. There's a lot of background work so it does feel like a dark part of the tunnel right now. However, it’s all worth it because the incentive at the other end is transforming the future for young artists by helping them create good, quality art while upping their skills and positive mindsets about their abilities. We love that over here at The Studio School. I’m lucky to have Lind Powell Hollingsworth bringing this youth program to life! Tell me, what or who are you lucky to have in your life?
