This last week, SCAD Fibers got a masterclass in what it means to bring a working professional into the studio.
— founder of When Simon Met Ralph and one of fashion’s most boundary-pushing designers — joined us as our latest visiting mentor, spending several days with us in Pepe Hall. A public talk, one-on-one portfolio reviews, class visits, and a hands-on screen printing workshop. Students got the full picture: not just the work, but the person behind it.
Simon’s energy is genuinely contagious — generous, fearless, and completely present with every student he met. Our students were so lucky to have him here.
Thank you, Simon. We can’t wait to have you back.

✨ SCAD FIBERS OPEN STUDIO 2026 ✨

Join us on Friday, February 27 from 5 to 8 PM in Pepe Hall for our one-night immersive exhibition of textile art and design! The event will include make-and-take demos like screen printing, indigo dyeing, machine knitting, weaving, embroidery, and tufting. Refreshments will be served.

This event is free and open to the public.

Congratulations to senior Eve Friday on her win in the 2025 ICFA / Richard Frinier Design Scholarship! This marks the second year in a row that a SCAD Fibers student has been awarded the scholarship.

The ICFA / Richard Frinier Design Scholarship was established in 2016 and is endowed by the renowned designer and his wife and partner, Catherine, to inspire design students in the creation of innovative outdoor living spaces for residential, contract and hospitality environments. The annual scholarship is awarded to the winner of an online competition in which college-level students submit their original designs for outdoor living products.
