Save the date! Title I at SWMS will host it's annual Family Forum on Thursday, May 14th at 8:30-10 a.m. at the school. All interested families and stakeholders should plan to attend.

We believe that your involvement with your child’s education is essential to their academic and future success. To honor our commitment to provide the best possible educational experience for your child and work with you in that effort, we would like to invite the families of all students served by Title I to help us to revise our family engagement budget, school-parent grade level compacts, family engagement policy, school improvement plan and give input on how we train our staff to work with families. This will take place at our annual Family Forum.

The Title I planning that we are doing with you for the 2026-2027 school year will include family engagement strategies, activities and services for programs that may be offered at our school such as those for students who are limited English proficient, disabled, migratory, homeless, economically disadvantaged or in need of additional academic assistance.

Together with you, we will develop plans that will assist in determining:

· The academic progress of our students.

· The identification of our strengths and areas for improvement.

· The removal of any barriers that may prevent parents/families from fully participating as a partner in their child’s education.

If you would like more information, please contact Southwest Middle School at 912-395-3540.

April is the Month of the Military Child and this year's theme is “Military Children and Youth: Strength in Every Story," which shines a light on the everyday courage of military children. Their stories, filled with resilience, adaptability, and quiet strength demonstrate the powerful character they build while growing up in a world defined by service and sacrifice.

To show our appreciation for our military, SWMS will celebrate its military connected students and faculty this week through April 17th. Wednesday, April 15th is Purple UP! day. Students are encouraged to wear purple that day to celebrate our military students (Non-uniform guidelines outlined in the student code of conduct apply). On Friday, April 17th, our military connected students will enjoy an ice cream social.

Thank you for helping to celebrate our military at SWMS.
