St. Vincent's Academy is the oldest mercy school in the world and has a long history of mercy values. We recently asked our faculty and staff what they think of when they think of the word Mercy at St. Vincent's Academy and what St. Vincent's means to them. We will highlight these each week. Here is today's highlighted answer from SVA President, Mrs. Mary Anne Hogan on what St. Vincent's means to her:
"St. Vincent's Academy is a physical and spiritual HOME . . . to me and so many. It is both a safe harbor and a place that challenges me to grow and push myself to be better every day. SVA is a place of HOPE and unlimited creativity and possibilities. The beautiful lessons and charism of the Sisters of Mercy permeates every aspect of our school. Once you are a part of the St. Vincent's Community, whether you are a student, teacher, staff, parent, or alumna, the Mercy core value of service becomes a part of you! It is a true blessing to be a part of SVA!"
We would love for you to answer these questions for us too! Send your responses to [email protected] with a photo!

🎉 Internship Program 2026! 🎉
A heartfelt thanks to our local businesses and organizations for being the backbone of our Internship Program. Your support transforms our dreams into a reality. Your commitment to shaping the futures of our students is truly invaluable!
Here are some reflections from our students:
Overall, this was an amazing experience for me, and it really helped me to narrow down my future path which I was unsure of prior to doing this internship.
I have loved my internship and definitely was moved by it. I am grateful that I got this opportunity and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I appreciate this opportunity from St. Vincent’s and love that this is a thing.
I definitely have decided I want to work in the medical field…. Working for and with these families has given me the opportunity like no other.
Please enjoy some of the pictures from their experiences!

If you've spent any time around St. Vincent’s Academy, chances are you know Loretto D. Lominack or at the very least, you've seen her welcoming smile, enthusiastic spirit, and unwavering dedication to our community.
At the June Board meeting for the St. Vincent’s 1845 Foundation, we were honored to recognize Loretto for 21 years of service as a Trustee. A Charter Member of the Foundation Board since its establishment in 2005, Loretto has played an instrumental role in preserving the historic St. Vincent’s Convent and ensuring its legacy endures for future generations.
A proud St. Vincent’s Academy alumna, former Director of Alumni Affairs, Alumnae Events, and Archivist, Loretto has generously shared her time, talent, vision, and leadership for decades. From helping establish beloved traditions like the Tea & Tour and the Nun Run to championing preservation efforts across campus, her impact can be seen and felt throughout the St. Vincent’s community.
As Loretto rotates off the Board, we extend our deepest gratitude for her extraordinary service, dedication, and love for St. Vincent’s. Her contributions have helped preserve not only historic buildings, but also the stories, traditions, and spirit that make this place so special.
Please join us in thanking and celebrating Loretto for all she has done for The 1845 Foundation. 💙
