SVA Students have been hard at work in their classes!

Ms. Westgate’s Latin classes brought Ancient Rome to life by dressing up as Roman senators and Roman empresses! Students wearing white togas with a purple or crimson stripe represented those who held high elected office. 🏛️

Meanwhile, Ms. Richie’s Campus Ministry class took their learning beyond the SVA gates and joined St. Peter the Apostle’s kindergarten class to share an interactive story about Noah! 🌈

SVA President Mary Anne Hogan and Principal Dawn Odom celebrated Sr. Helen Marie Buttimer’s 70th jubilee as a Sister of Mercy at Mercy Convent today. Many Sisters of Mercy and friends gathered for mass and dinner. Sr. Helen Marie has been a role model and mentor for us all. She is a true Woman Who Leads!

St. Vincent’s Academy is the oldest mercy school in the world and has a long history of mercy values. We recently asked our faculty and staff what they think of when they think of the word Mercy at St. Vincent’s Academy and what St. Vincent’s means to them. We will highlight these each week.

Here is today’s highlighted answer from a member of the Advancement team, Nancy Schreck ‘71, on what St. Vincent’s Academy means to her: “Simply put, I love SVA!. From the time I was a little girl, my aunt and former Principal, Sister Fidelis, had my uniform ready and waiting for me to wear. My mother spent 47 years here creating a legacy of music. Now, it’s my turn — 38 years and still going strong. This is my home away from home. SVA & Mercy has built me!”
