Coast Camp: The ultimate canvas for real fun and great art. 🌊🎨

Last week our campers dove into field trip fun! 🌊☀️ We spent the day soaking up the sun on the beach and exploring the incredible exhibits at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. The best way to combine education and play! 🐚

Sand, sunshine, and serious science! ☀️🦀 Our Bridge to Research in Marine Sciences interns traded the classroom for the coast today. We spent the day on Tybee exploring the beautiful coastal ecology and getting hands-on with local marine life. Another great step on their journey of discovery! 🌊🔬

Coast Camp SZN is officially underway, and we kicked it off with a bang! 💥 Our campers are reunited, and the summer fun has officially begun. This week was packed with creative arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and the start of lifelong friendships. We can’t wait to see what next week brings! 🏕️✨

We’re only two weeks into our Bridge to Research in Marine Sciences program, and things are already heating up 🔥🔥🔥!!!

Our interns have had an unforgettable week — from visiting the aquarium to learn more about marine life, to touring an oyster farm, connecting with their mentors, and gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience along the way.

This program is about so much more than research — it’s an EXPERIENCE. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things our interns accomplish throughout the summer!

As many of you may know, Coast Camp starts NEXT WEEK, and we are so EXCITED!!!!!

For almost 20 years, Coast Camp has provided campers with both a fun and educational experience. The program gives students the opportunity to learn more about coastal ecosystems and marine environments while also creating a space for them to connect, grow, and build lasting memories together.

We can’t wait to welcome our campers next week and give them an experience of a LIFETIME!!!

Science on the beach! Savannah State University Marine Science professors Drs. Kaltenberg and Hintz and SECOORA interns Ash'le, Lealie, Juan, Adonis, and Alyssa attended the SECOORA 2026 Annual Meeting in Atlantic Beach, NC this week. Four posters were presented, including the work of past interns, Charles, Caitlin, and Joshua. SECOORA stands for the Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association and it is the coastal ocean observing system for NC, SC, GA and FL.

Congratulations to our beloved Ms Sugeiry Rivera for earning the Service Excellence Award! Well deserved!
