I'm happy to share that I was featured in the December issue of Oceanography. I'm flanked by best friends and mentors, even mentees. They asked us to tell our professional story and give advice to the next generation of scientists. That story couldn't get far without mentioning my SSU!

NOAA Inclusive Fisheries Internship Program (IN FISH) Seeking Undergraduate Applicants for Expanded 2024 Summer Program
The NOAA Fisheries Inclusive Internship Program (IN FISH) is calling for applications for the 2024 summer program that offers paid summer internship for undergraduates interested in fisheries, marine, and environmental sciences, and/or careers in resource management and policy. The program emphasizes diversity and especially seeks applicants from HBCUs and other Minority Serving Institutions, and from undergraduates from groups under-represented in marine and environmental sciences.
IN FISH offers a $6,000 stipend and covers all expenses for participants, including tuition for a two-credit undergraduate course. Housing, food, and travel are arranged and paid for by IN FISH program staff.
Applications are available on the IN FISH website and are due February 10. Offers will be made in March.
IN FISH interns take a two-week, for-credit course in either Long Branch, New Jersey or LaJolla, California, and then move to a NOAA or NOAA-affiliated lab or office to work for eight weeks with a mentor on a science or management project. The program runs from June 3 through August 10.
IN FISH was established by NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in 2021 to increase diversity in its scientific and management communities. The program is open to all undergraduates, with applications are especially encouraged from students from groups underrepresented in the scientific research and resource management fields: African American, Hispanic American, Native American, Asian Pacific Islander, and Alaska Native.
Inclusive NOAA Fisheries Internship Program (IN FISH) The Inclusive NOAA Fisheries Internship Program helps to build a diverse and inclusive workforce of scientists and managers.
