Kicking off our Stocker Field day today talking about health with Jared UT Extension - Hardin County!
We learned about the importance of preventative care for stocker calves and what to look for in sick calves (first, study what a healthy calf looks like so you can catch it before they get too sick!) Jared also showed how simple BVD-PI chute side tests are to use.
Forages and marketing will be covered today as well.
WCHS FFA is grilling burgers for our lunch later today. 🍔
The Feeder Calf Sale is right around the corner! . This is an excellent opportunity to market your 300-800lb calves. Cattle will be sorted in uniform lots based on breed, weights, s*x, and grades.
See flyer for details.
Contact UT Extension - Hardin County (731-925-3441) or The Sale Barn (731-925-3287 or 931-722-3100) to consign calves by AUGUST 3RD!
Hardin, Wayne, Lawrence, and Giles Co. landowners enrolled in Farm Services Agency (FSA) Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) are invited to attend a demonstration on how to implement crop tree release in young, planted hardwood stands. This demonstration will exhibit how to satisfy CRP mid-contract management requirements. It is also for others interested in improving their young hardwood stands.

Join us in congratulating Alesha Dodd! She is active in the forestry, wildlife and fisheries project in Hardin County.
“One of my favorite 4-H memories is when I campaigned for All-Star council and then won Western Region Scribe!” Alesha said. “But my absolute favorite memory would be every moment I got to spend with my 4-H family!”
She plans to obtain her bachelors in agricultural education and become a 4-H agent. Way to go Alesha! UT Extension - Hardin County
