From the monumental worlds of DUNE to the next generation of production designers. 🎬✨

is thrilled to announce that Academy Award-winning production designer will receive the Creative Impact in Production Design Award at the festival, celebrating his extraordinary artistry and visionary contributions to cinematic storytelling.

Known for creating some of contemporary cinema's most unforgettable worlds, Vermette won the Academy Award for his spectacular work on , bringing an extraordinary sense of scale, architecture, texture, and detail to Denis Villeneuve's epic vision.

His visit also celebrates a craft deeply embedded in the SCAD experience. Across Savannah and Atlanta, SCAD production design students prepare for careers in film, television, live theater, and themed entertainment. Students and alumni have access to professional soundstages, Broadway-style theaters, LED volume technology, fabrication facilities, and SCAD's 11-acre Hollywood-style backlot with more than 50 facades and practical interiors.

We’ve got a blockbuster in the making for 2026 SCAD Savannah Film Festival Opening Night!

Academy Award winner will take center stage at with her new film to receive the Legend of Entertainment Award followed by an in conversation event.

The SCAD Savannah Film Festival is back Oct. 24–31 for eight days of screenings, premieres, panels, workshops, and conversations with some of the biggest names in film.

With resources that rival Hollywood studios, award-winning professors, stunning locations, a professionally run casting office, and stellar film and television festivals, the SCAD School of Film and Acting is the ideal place to launch into the film and television industry. Students are prepared to command roles onstage and on screen through live performances, sitcoms, dramatic series, music videos, commercials, and more.
