A stupid little rock tried to ruin my afternoon.

The TPMS alerted me that the truck tire was losing pressure. Found this chunk of rock buried in the tire, pulled it out, plugged the hole, aired the tire back up and was rolling again in about 10 minutes.

No tow truck. No limping somewhere on a flat. No sitting around waiting for somebody to come rescue me.

And this isn't gear that just lives in the truck looking pretty. I recently used the exact same setup to plug a nail hole in one of my trailer tires.

The three things that earned their keep:

• VEHICLEX tire plug kit — under $20
• VIAIR 300P portable compressor — currently 30% off
• GUTA TPMS — caught the pressure loss before I found out the hard way

This is exactly why I like carrying the tools to deal with basic problems myself. Ten minutes on the side of the road beats turning a tire puncture into an ordeal.

I'll put links to all three in the comments.

Spent another week making progress on the cabin... and nearly got punched in the face by a rotten tree.

We also kept experimenting with fixing those vinyl floor bubbles. The internet had plenty of advice. Some of it was garbage. One method actually seems to be working, but we'll see if it holds.

I also talked about why I'm making a conscious effort to spend more time on Nostr instead of the algorithm-driven social media circus, and finished the show with a story about Flock cameras that raises some uncomfortable questions.

If you've ever dropped dead trees, installed sheet vinyl, or have thoughts on surveillance tech, I'd love to hear your experience.

Replay links are in the first comment if you want to watch or listen.

Episode 900 of The LOTS Project Morning Show is here!

Today we're talking about a full day spent cutting trees for the future off-grid solar field, experimenting with fixing bubbles in our new vinyl flooring (including what worked and what didn't), this week's YouTube video covering the tools I'm using to clear the solar field, rebuilding my Nostr habit one day at a time, plus whatever else ends up on the morning coffee agenda.

New video is up.

One thing I've learned clearing this property is that you don't necessarily need an excavator or a five-figure equipment budget to get a lot done.

Over the last several months I've been clearing the future solar field, food forest, and cabin area mostly by hand. In this video I walk through the tools that have actually earned a permanent place on this property—including a couple that surprised me.

I also share what I'd skip, what I'd buy again, and why one little battery chainsaw gets used far more than I ever expected.

If you're building a homestead, reclaiming overgrown land, or planning an off-grid project, hopefully this saves you a little time and money.

Successful day felling trees. 6 on the ground where planned and got them all limbed up. Tallest was about 65' and 18" dia at the base. 2 of them were standing dead trunks about 30' tall and 20" dia, my bar didnt quite reach across. Super sketchy since they had no limbs and both straight up and down. So much rot they could have either fallen any direction. Busted out the wedges and made sure I had plenty of escape routes and things went pretty smooth. I did take a wedge to the kisser when it popped out when I was driving it in. Overall a solid day running the saws. Lots of work left cleaning them up. But the solar field is open, only trees left are to reduce morning shade and a couple that would hit the array if they fell. The cabin finally humbled us this weekend.

After months of building, we made our first real mistake... and it happened right in the middle of the living room floor.

I also dive into the Coldcard security situation and why "doing everything right" isn't always enough when it comes to protecting your Bitcoin.

And then I ask a question I've been thinking about for weeks...

Why do we keep putting people well past retirement age in charge of making decisions for 340 million Americans?

I'd love to hear where you stand on that one.

Also in this episode:
✔ Cabin progress
✔ Solar field update
✔ Flooring lessons learned
✔ Bitcoin Price Guessing Game
✔ More off-grid planning

Question...

At what point did we decide sheep need government permission to drink water?

That was one of today's conversations, along with more progress clearing the solar field, my thoughts after putting the LogOx to work, why every commercial suddenly changed, and a big update on where I'm taking the channel heading into Episode 900.

I'd love to hear your take...

Have you noticed the ad shift lately, or am I just paying more attention?
