RECOVERY IS THE NAME OF THE GAME.

“YOUR BODY DOES NOT GET STRONGER DURING THE WORKOUT.”
Most people understand the work part.
What most people miss is what happens after.
When you train you are breaking down muscle tissue.
When you recover-your body rebuilds it stronger than before.
Without recovery there is no growth.

Here is what proper recovery looks like:
- Sleep 7-9 hours
-Nutrition-protein within 30 minutes after training
-Hydration-half your bodyweight in ounces of water per day.
-Rest Days- 48 hours between workouts.
-Stretching-to maintain mobility.

THE STATISTICS NOBODY TALKS ABOUT
Men and Depression

---

Depression does not discriminate.

But it does hide.

And in men — it hides better than almost anywhere else.
Here is what the numbers say:

- More than 6 million men in the United States suffer from depression every year
- Men are 4 times more likely to die by su***de than women
- Yet men are far less likely to seek help or even acknowledge they are struggling
- Only 1 in 3 people suffering from depression seek professional treatment
- Among men that number is significantly lower

Why do men suffer in silence?

Because we are taught to.

From childhood men are conditioned to believe that strength means not feeling. That vulnerability is weakness. That real men push through without asking for help.

So we push through.

Until we cannot anymore.

The warning signs in men often look different:

- Anger and irritability instead of sadness
- Increased alcohol or substance use
- Withdrawing from family and relationships
- Physical complaints — headaches, fatigue, chronic pain
- Throwing themselves into work to avoid feeling
- Risk taking behaviors
- Loss of interest in things they once loved

These do not look like depression.

So nobody calls it that.

And men suffer alone wondering why they feel the way they feel with no language for what is happening inside them.

I was one of those men.

Strong on the outside.
Falling apart on the inside.
Too proud to say I needed help.

Until the waves of depression got so heavy I could not pretend anymore.

Here is what I know now:

Asking for help is not weakness.
It is the strongest thing a man can do.

Because suffering in silence is not strength.
It is a slow surrender to something that does not have to win.

My Thought For Today is Psalm 24:7-10 GNTD. “Fling wide the gates, open the ancient doors, and the great king will come in. Who is this great king? He is the LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, victorious in battle. Fling wide the gates, open the ancient doors, and the great king will come in. Who is this great king? The triumphant LORD—he is the great king!”
Psalm 24 begins with King David describing the type person who will be able to abide in the presence of the Lord. He that is pure in thought or deed.
David encourages the ancient gates and doors to be opened.
A spiritual application for you today is that you don’t have to continue with a bowed head and a closed off life. Open up to the presence and power of God and the triumphant and victorious King will come in.
