Real‑World Impact Starts Here at South University, Savannah!

Physical Therapist Assistant students Nicholas and Lillie are taking their classroom learning to the next level through the student worker program. While studying physical therapy techniques on campus, they’re also applying those skills in meaningful ways at the local non‑profit Abilities Unlimited Inc.

In their roles, Nicholas and Lillie support clients as they work to improve mobility, independence, and overall quality of life, gaining hands‑on experience that strengthens their confidence and prepares them for future clinical practice.

Partnerships like this highlight how education and community engagement come together to create powerful learning opportunities. Students build real‑world skills, and organizations like Abilities Unlimited benefit from their dedication and growing expertise.

Nicholas and Lillie continue to shine in both the classroom and the community, showcasing the heart of what makes the PTA program so impactful.

The national average among other 4-year-private institutions is a ranking of 30. This number highlights the trust students put into the university and how likely they are to recommend South to friends and family. 🏫

Summer Camp Meets Hands-On Healthcare at South University, Savannah!

Last week, South University, Savannah welcomed students from EmployAbility’s Summer Camp for an exciting, interactive tour of campus. Campers explored classrooms, checked out the medical equipment used in our healthcare programs, and connected with faculty and staff as they talked through their own career goals.

Every student found something new to love, but the biggest buzz came from our Physical Therapist Assistant lab. Current PTA students showcased the specialized equipment they use in training and guided campers through a few techniques themselves. The room was full of curiosity, laughter, and plenty of “I want to try that!” moments.

The visit offered a fun, hands-on look at the world of healthcare education and encouraged these future professionals to imagine where their own paths might lead.

🏫 Welcome back to campus, LaDonna Field! 🎓

LaDonna is a South University, Savannah alumna from the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Class of 2012 who was recently visiting Savannah and stopped by campus to say hello! It was an extra-special visit because her photo and accomplishments are proudly framed and displayed in the hallway. 🥹✨🖼️

We are so proud to see all that LaDonna has accomplished since graduating. She is now working in Mississippi at Alcorn State while also managing her nonprofit, Planting Positive Seeds. 🌱🧠

During her visit, LaDonna reminisced about her time in the classroom and shared the story behind a book she wrote and published while she was a South University student. The concept began as one of her class assignments and ultimately became a real-life milestone for her! 📖✨

Although she now lives far away, LaDonna always carries her Stingray Pride with her. 💙 She loved seeing how much the campus has grown and changed since her days at South University, and we loved welcoming her back home! 🏫 🎓

🐾🐾 We just had a near record breaking volunteer turnout on Saturday to walk dogs at Renegade Paws Rescue!

🌞 25 South University, Savannah students, staff, and alumni came out in near one hundred degree heat to get a dog out of its kennel and walk them as part of the pack walk. Dean Tavoloni came out as well, and said she will be back for future walks!

As a special sign of appreciation for our volunteers, students were given a free t-shirt as a token of thanks for showing up in on a hot summer Saturday to help the dog rescue. 👕
