Sheltering Tree is the vision of team-leader Bobbie Ann Boroughs. Her son Jordan was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as a child. She began a quest to help her child develop his full potential. She attended numerous workshops and seminars and read countless books. She and her husband Dave paid an Applied Behavior Analysis therapist to train her to work with Jordan at home. Two years later s

he enrolled him on a limited basis in Savannah Christian Academy. It was at this time that the seed of Sheltering Tree began to germinate. Jordan attended class for a couple of days per week and Bobbie Ann began to tutor a three-year-old diagnosed on the spectrum. In 2007, the opportunity to start a classroom on the campus of Savannah Christian Academy arose. Bobbie (after much prayerful deliberation) jumped at the opportunity to serve other families in the community. Sheltering Tree Ranch sprouted up with three students, two full-time educators and two part-time educators. In 2008, the campus of SCA was totally destroyed by an F-4 tornado. Nevertheless, the school and the classroom, through a generous outpouring of the community, continued to educate its students. In the fall of 2008, Sheltering Tree once again opened in portable classrooms and had grown in number to five full-time students and staff members. Today, Sheltering Tree Ranch is located on a 50-Acre Ranch that has 3 Educational Buildings, serves 38 families, and has 10 full-time staff members. We offer Therapeutic Horse riding and Horse Riding Lessons and have many events for adults and children with Special Needs.

Horseback riding is more than a fun activity. πŸ‡πŸΌ

🧠 Through equine-assisted therapy, riding becomes a way to support a wide range of skills and behaviors in children and adults with special needs.

Therapeutic riding can benefit cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development while giving students a chance to enjoy the outdoors. πŸŒ³πŸƒ
