A beautiful Early Childhood Orientation yesterday as we prepare to welcome our youngest children back to the village. At The New Village School, we believe childhood is worthy of care, beauty, and intention.
From thoughtfully prepared classrooms to natural materials and simple rhythms, we create space for children to play, imagine, move, and simply be children.
We loved welcoming our families and beginning another year together.

to meeting mama pig and her piglets at Three Springs Community Farm! 🐷
We believe children learn to care for the world by first learning to love it. At the New Village School, Reverence for Life begins with experiences like these, meeting animals with gentleness, caring for the land, and discovering a deep respect for all living beings. These moments nurture empathy, gratitude, and an understanding that we are part of a larger living world.
Sometimes the greatest lessons don’t happen inside a classroom. They happen kneeling beside a mama pig and her curious little piglets. We can’t wait to visit the farm again!

Two weeks until our village comes alive again.
Soon our classrooms will once again be filled with laughter, stories, curious minds, and joyful hearts. At The New Village School, we believe education begins with belonging. When children feel safe, known, and loved, they have the confidence to explore, create, and grow into who they are meant to become. We can't wait to welcome returning families, meet new ones, and begin another beautiful year together. We are truly a village. 💛📚

8th Grade Spotlight: Exploring Artificial Intelligence
For his 8th Grade Project, Eli explored the history of artificial intelligence, how AI works and learns, and the growing impact it is having on our world. Through extensive research, he traced AI's development from early computing pioneers and the Turing Test to modern machine learning, while explaining complex ideas in a way that was engaging and accessible.
Eli also took a balanced approach by examining both the benefits and the risks of AI. He discussed how AI can support education, medicine, and problem-solving, while also raising important questions about misinformation, bias, privacy, cybersecurity, academic integrity, and the need for humans to use these powerful tools responsibly.
As the centerpiece of his project, Eli and his dad built a machine-learning chess engine that improves by playing games and learning from its own decisions. By combining programming, research, and critical thinking, Eli gave our community a fascinating look at one of today's fastest-growing technologies while encouraging everyone to think carefully about the future of artificial intelligence.

CWoW Wednesday: our children planted milkweed in the school garden to help create habitat for monarch butterflies. Recently, we were delighted to spot this beautiful monarch enjoying the very garden they helped grow. Moments like these remind us that when children care for the earth, they also learn patience, stewardship, and the joy of seeing their work come to life.

🌈 to an unforgettable moment in Lago Puelo, Argentina.
As our 8th graders explored Patagonia together, they looked up to see this breathtaking double rainbow stretching across the sky—a beautiful reminder that some of the most meaningful moments happen when we slow down, look up, and experience the world together.

8th Grade Spotlight: The World of Rabbits! 🐇
For her 8th Grade Project, Samantha explored the fascinating world of rabbits—from their history and evolution to their anatomy, health, and proper care. Inspired by her own experiences as a rabbit owner, she researched what makes rabbits such unique and delicate animals while sharing practical knowledge about how to help them live healthy, happy lives.
As the centerpiece of her project, Samantha created a handmade sculpture of her two beloved rabbits, Umber and Ocher. Through clay, papier-mâché, paint, and cardboard, she honored their special bond and celebrated the lessons they have taught her about compassion, responsibility, and the deep connection between people and animals.

CWoW Wednesday 🌊
There’s nothing quite like learning in the great outdoors! Our students were filled with awe and curiosity as they discovered what appears to be a whale skull along the shoreline. Moments like these spark endless questions, inspire scientific thinking, and remind us that some of the best classrooms have no walls.
At New Village School, nature isn't just where we learn—it's one of our greatest teachers.
