Today, we will sing our final goodbye song in the Little Village Preschool until the new school year.
"Goodbye dear friends, goodbye dear friends,
For now, we have to part.
But when I go to sleep tonight,
I'll hold you in my heart."
Please know that we teachers will be holding each of your children in our hearts throughout the summer. Thank you for sharing them with us and allowing us to be part of their journey. It has been a joy and privilege to witness their growth, wonder, and unfolding this year. ❤️

Last week, our 3rd graders proudly presented their Shelter Projects — their first formal presentations at New Village School!
Throughout this hands-on block, students explored how people around the world build shelters suited to their environment, climate, and way of life. We are so proud of the confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm they brought as they shared their learning with our community.

Bravo to our 8th graders for completing their final play at New Village School: The Frogs by Aristophanes! 🎭
Filled with both crude humor and timeless themes of friendship, hierarchy, the arts, and mortality, this ancient comedy carried audiences on a journey to the underworld and back again.
A heartfelt thank you to Karina Das for her wonderful direction, and a special shoutout to our delightful 1st-grade frogs, who helped bring the story to life.

Months of curiosity, research, writing, and artistic work came together in our 4th Grade Animal Presentations!
Each student explored two animals - one that attracted them and one that repelled them - then shared their learning through oral presentations and detailed habitat diagrams. Every project reflected the unique personality, creativity, and passion of its creator.
We are so proud of these young researchers and presenters!

8th Grade Project Spotlight: Empathy & Psychopathy
What happens in the brain when empathy is present... and what happens when it's missing? Arielle explored the fascinating intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and human behavior through an in-depth study of empathy, psychopathy, and the structures of the human brain.
Combining scientific research, brain anatomy, and thoughtful questions about human nature, Arielle challenged us to think more deeply about how our brains shape the way we understand and relate to one another. Well done, Arielle!

: Kindergarten and 1st Grade gathered beneath the towering redwoods at Old Mill Park, sharing lunch, movement, song, and story. Days like these remind us that some of the best classrooms have no walls at all.

"Oats, peas, beans, and barley grow,
Oats, peas, beans, and barley grow.
Can you or I or anyone know
How oats, peas, beans, and barley grow?"
Bringing our preschool songs to life with our strong working hands, the children planted beans and tomatoes after a beautiful spring rain last week.

8th Grade Project Spotlight: The Evolution of Toilets
From ancient Roman latrines to modern flushing toilets, Vivi took a deep dive into one of humanity's most important (and often overlooked!) inventions. Through humor, research, original illustrations, and a working cross-section model, Vivi explored the history, mechanics, and future of sanitation while challenging us all to think differently about something we use every day. Well done, Vivi!
