Bethel Lodge is proud to name Brother Timothy Domeier our 2026 Mason of the Year.
Tim serves as our Senior Deacon, a station he chose on purpose even while running two family businesses that leave him little time to spare. He wanted new Masons still learning the ritual to see that it's okay not to be perfect. What matters is showing up and trying.
He was one of the first to step up when the Lodge needed help reaching brothers who'd fallen out of touch. He organized two Family Game Days this year, the first alone bringing more than fifty guests through our doors. And together with his wife Stephanie and their two sons, he's put in hundreds of hours and nearly an acre of his own land clearing trails for our outdoor Master Mason degree this October, believed to be the first of its kind in the Upper Peninsula in many years.
Beyond the Lodge, Tim restarted the Parent-Teacher Association in Paradise after the community had gone without one for years, and has worked with area schools to expand our Bikes for Books program.
This October, Tim will also be joining the Valley of Michigan, right there at the outdoor degree — one more milestone in a year that's already given so much back to this Lodge and this community.
Congratulations, Brother Domeier. Well earned.

Bethel Lodge No. 358 is pleased to welcome three new Brothers to the fraternity!

The evening was made even more special with the help of eight visiting Brothers from Hatherly Lodge No. 625 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. We were grateful for their assistance and honored to host them at our lodge.

Brotherhood knows no borders, and we look forward to crossing the river and returning their visit this fall.

Congratulations to our newest Brothers, and thank you to everyone who helped make the evening memorable! Tag em if you know em.

Bethel Lodge, in partnership with The Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation wrapped up another year of Bikes for Books, and we're proud of every young reader who took part.

The program works simply. Teachers and librarians set reading goals, and students earn their way into a drawing for a brand new bike and helmet by hitting those goals or by the number of books they read. Every school runs it a little differently, which means it rewards effort and improvement just as much as raw achievement. Every reader gets a shot.

This year we celebrated students at Rudyard, Soo, and Brimley schools. Watching kids realize that reading paid off, and that their community noticed, is the whole reason we show up.

A special thank you to Worshipful Brother Jay Wilson, who has led this program for Bethel for several years. His commitment to these kids and their schools is what keeps Bikes for Books rolling year after year. Thank you, Brother Jay.

To every student who picked up a book and kept going: you earned it. Keep reading.

Twenty-two brothers from four lodges, carrying hundreds of years of Masonic experience between them, came together in Bethel Lodge to raise four brothers from three lodges to the sublime degree of Master Mason.

Nobody asked whose lodge got the credit. Brothers traveled, filled the sidelines, and showed up for each other's most important night in Masonry. That's the fraternity at its best.

Special thanks to the brothers who traveled from Lakeside No. 371, St. Ignace No. 369, and Les Cheneaux No. 590 in Cedarville. Your support made the night.

Congratulations to our four newly raised Master Masons. Welcome to the fullness of the craft. Well done, brethren.

Bethel Lodge No. 358 was honored this week to recognize Worshipful Brother Dennis Waybrant for fifty years a Master Mason. Raised in 1976, Brother Dennis has given half a century to the Craft and to this lodge. He twice served Bethel from the East, first in 1982 during the lodge's 100th anniversary year, and again in 2020, carrying forward a tradition begun by his father, Charles Waybrant, who also presided as Master of Bethel Lodge. Pictured here receiving his fifty-year pin and certificate from the Grand Lodge of Michigan, presented by Worshipful Master Robert Martens with support from Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Craig Lehrke. Congratulations, Brother Dennis, and thank you for fifty years of faithful service to Bethel Lodge and the Soo's Masonic community.

Bethel Lodge No. 358 is pleased and grateful to accept the donation of a LifeVac anti-choking device from our Brothers at Pellston Lodge, seen here presented by Worshipful Brother Craig Dawson to our Worshipful Master, Robert Martens. We're thankful for Pellston Lodge's initiative in looking out for the safety of our members and guests. We hope we never have to use it, but we're glad to have it on hand.
