🎒 Our Junior Kindergarten Classroom is Ready! ✏️

The cubbies are labeled, the learning stations are set, and the books are waiting on the shelves! The Junior Kindergarten classroom at Sault Area Public Schools is officially ready to greet our newest and youngest learners.

We can’t wait to welcome our JK scholars through the doors to start their educational journey with us. From circle time and creative play to making first school friendships, a fantastic year of discovery is right around the corner!

Join us as we celebrate Roy Spencer, a 1973 Sault High graduate recognized worldwide as a leading climatologist. From his roots at Sault High to groundbreaking work in space research and climate science, Roy's achievements represent the very best of Blue Devil pride.

Highlights of Roy's Distinguished Career:

Space & Satellite Research: Worked with NASA, served on the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) team that landed the Mars Rover, and contributes to the Aqua Weather Satellite team.

Global Expertise: Traveled to Japan to assist their space program and has presented research before both the U.S. Congress and the Finnish Parliament.

Best-Selling Author: Written several books on climate change, including his New York Times top-ten bestseller, Climate Confusion.

Current Work: Serves as a Principal Research Scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

✨ REACHING FOR THE STARS! ✨
We officially dedicated and opened our brand-new "Reaching for the Stars" Playground at Sault Area Elementary School!

From student-led pledges, a ceremonial drum, and a smudging ceremony to the release of ceremonial doves, it was an unforgettable afternoon celebrating childhood wellness, creativity, and the power of play. Inspired directly by student artwork, writings, and a schoolwide vote, this project truly belongs to our kids.

"Play is not a break from learning. Play is how children learn best," shared Superintendent Dr. Amy Kronemeyer. "This space celebrates childhood wellness while fostering the confidence, curiosity, creativity, and social connections that support lifelong learning."

A Huge Thank You to Our Community!
This dream became a reality thanks to the successful passage of our August 2025 school millage. Join us at our new outdoor learning space where children of all abilities and families can explore, discover, create, and connect through play. Enjoy refreshments, demonstrations, and hands-on activities as we mark this exciting addition to our center and community.
