Computer Science at Lake Superior State University

Computer Science at Lake Superior State University Computer Science and Mathematics at Lake Superior State University Full-time faculty teach students in the classroom and in the labs.

The School of Mathematics and Computer Science offers degree programs in mathematics and math education, computer science, networking and web development. Small class sizes provide students the opportunity to engage in discussions with the faculty. Topics of courses include developing mobile applications, web development with PHP and ASP, multimedia, computer security and advanced network security

, networking with multiple operating systems, computer programming. Each student completes a sophomore semester project and in their senior year a two-semester or project and a year long project working with real clients to solve real-world problems or can work on research or an internship. We have many alumni throughout Michigan and beyond working in IT related jobs.

It's Space Week at LSSU!!

Okay, I just decided that on my own...however:

S**C 410 Space Operations Fundamentals labs this past Saturday, Tonight, and this coming Saturday.

A visit with State Senator John Damoose today with our Space Missions and Operations Certificate students plus two years of Computer Science Senior Design UPHDAS (Upper Peninsula High-latitude Domain Awareness System.

The Great Lakes Space Alliance — Space Day Workshop all day Wednesday.

S**C 410's last lecture on Thursday.

LSSU's Senior Research Symposium with poster presentations from two Computer Science Teams (one working on the extension for UPHDAS) and two Mathematics students.

The Northern Michigan University Programming Contest was held this past Saturday with 15 teams from 4 universities.

LSSU's Soo Superior Semaphores took 3rd Place overall and LSSU took 2nd Place in the university standings!!!

The Soo Superior Semaphores are Dylan Ballone, Christopher Burie, and Rusty Trim...they rocked!!

1st Place was taken by MTU's team Bender
2nd Place was MTU's team QT 1
3rd Place LSSU's team Soo Superior Semaphores

The LSSU programming team "We _Think_ We're Graduating" took 1st place in the annual Northern Michigan University Programming Contest!!

Shown below are the team members: Ivan Baumann, Zach Stepp, and Kevin Spearman. The team answered 4 out of 6 programming challenges.

Two of the three (Stepp and Spearman) also competed together with Stephen Clifton at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest held at Michigan Tech last term. Their Team, Software Archeologists, took 5th place at the MTU site.

Good Morning! I am Becca Kilponen, the new Academic Assistant for the School of Computer Science and Mathematics. I have been in my position for about 1 month and am loving every minute of it!
