Trinity Bauer-Wojnar attended St. Mary’s from kindergarten through 8th grade, and graduated in 2015! Here is what she has to say about her experience at St. Mary’s:

“My experience at St. Mary’s was academically rigorous and morally rich. It inspired me to obtain a bachelor’s degree in theology and to continue my faith today. My favorite memory from St. Mary’s was the Panama trip! I still keep in contact with my host family, and the experience inspired me to learn about other cultures even to today. St. Mary’s laid the foundation for my faith, especially through learning about our faith in every aspect of life.”

Trinity is in her 4th (and final!) year of medical school at Michigan State! After graduation this spring with her MD, she will be starting her residency training in Psychiatry!

Randi Bumstead graduated from St. Mary’s in 2018. Here’s what she has to say about her experience!

“Catholic school shaped who I am today by showing me what it means to have a loving relationship with God. I had so many amazing teachers who inspired me and taught me not only about school subjects, but faith. I have so many joyful memories of my time at St. Mary’s that I will never forget!

Some of my favorite memories are the times we all got to sing together during Mass, which just amplified my already deep love for music. I still love to cantor at Mass to this day!

My faith grew immensely, through the wonderful experience of getting to go to Steubenville, and having religion class with Mr. Guevara.”

Randi is graduating this year from Central Michigan University with a B.F.A in Musical Theatre, and hopes to go on to teach voice lessons and theatre classes!

⭐️ St. Mary’s Alumni Highlight⭐️

Rachel Shawhan graduated from St. Mary’s in 2012. Here’s what she has to say about her experience.

“St. Mary’s was such a supportive place to grow. I always felt that teachers really knew their students and understood that everyone learned and grew in their own way. I met my best friend there, played sports, and went on so many fun field trips. The close relationships between students and teachers made St. Mary’s feel like a true community, and I’m really grateful for those memories.

I have so many special memories of worship at St. Mary’s School and Church. I’m especially grateful for the way music and faith were woven together and helped shape my foundation in faith.

Today, I’m a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, working with elementary-aged students who have communication difficulties. Looking back, I think my love of connecting with others was first nurtured at St. Mary’s. I hope to pass that same sense of encouragement and joy on to the students I work with today.”

and to 1956! Pictured below is Joe Caruso his senior year at Loretto High School in Sault Ste Marie and a present day photo. 🙂

What does Joe have to say about his Catholic education?

“My years at St. Mary’s Grade School and Loretto Catholic Central high school were very important in forming and loving my Catholic faith. My parents were devout Catholics, and these schools strengthened my total faith life.

My favorite memories revolve around two nuns: Sister Thecla, the principal at St. Marys and Mother Mary Ellen at Loretto. They were wonderful. Mother Mary Ellen was our Latin teacher and also our homeroom teacher our senior year. They both took a serious interest in me, and I have always appreciated it. My faith was definitely strengthen during those years thanks to very dedicated, holy teachers.”
