THANK YOU! WOW, just a beautiful weekend! It was great weather ☀️ for both days! Full of so much love and support from SO many! We couldn’t do it without the participants, volunteers, and just every organization that helped make this day safe & successful for everyone that crossed that finish line! 🇺🇸 🇨🇦
A quote from our race Director Tony Filipek.
“All participants received a different medal each day made by Maxwell Awards of Traverse City. All Star Graphics produced both shirts for this weekend’s races as well. Overall winners received custom framed pictures and slates made by Lorna Bricco’s Bricco Designs of the Soo. Top 3 in each age category also received their choice of a slice of Fudge Du Locke Fudge, Yooper Pasty, or Drummond Island Coffee. Sponsors include the Sault CVB, Soo Co-Op Credit Union, Great Lakes Roofing and Insulation, Bordertown Chiropractic, Queen City Running Company, and Cooper Dental. Thanks to Wanderbean as well setting up their food truck Saturday morning.
A huge thank you to our 40+ volunteers including but not limited to LSSU Track and Cross Country, LSSU Kinesiology, Soo Co-Op Credit Union, Dorothy and Scott Cornell, Jason McLeod, our lead biker Cameron Vinton, Matt McLeod (Auxillary), lead bikers on Day 1 from Sault Police, several event photographers, an outstanding high school cross country group from schools across the EUP and many of the runners who competed and volunteered as well. Thank you to LSSU’s Nathan Piche managing the Art Center for our Friday and Saturday events and LSSU’s Dr. Travis supporting and running in this event for 2 consecutive years! This event would not be what it is today without Linda Hoath’s decision to bring this event back in 2025! We will miss her in her retirement and she is always welcome to get on the microphone. Don’t forget about the US and Canadian Customs, Sault Ontario Police, Pete and his crew with the IBA, Sault Police with Captain Autore preparing all security measures, Fire and EMS organized by Chief Ed Miller, along with Tyler Perron and the city crew helping get the road closures in. Due to ongoing construction a new half marathon course was constructed with direction from city engineers David Boyle and Morgan Buckmaster. This event could not happen without the cooperation of many different departments within the city working together to give our economy a boost and the city showing off its fall colors. Jim and Mitch Lehocky take the best videos and photos on the bridge!!!
There were highlights from the start with Dr. Travis getting the crowd hyped before the Bridge Run, Kelsey Emmanuel singing both anthems on both days, and to the finish of the day 2 half marathon with married couple and long time runners Dorothy and John Johnson of Indian River, a young 81 and 82 years of age finishing 13.1miles together.
A thank you as well to Birdseye Outfitters allowing us to use their facilities on day 2. Thank you to additional businesses such as Zac and Maks, Del Mar, Crepe and Coffee, and others offering specials to runners this weekend!
It was also great to see runners from 20 states enjoying the Soo and telling us how to correctly pronounce Louisville or the significance of how Newark Delaware received its name! We had 44 of our Canadian runners join us and they had some outstanding performances and energy to bring to the festival!”
Thank you from Yooper Running Company! 👟
