Since the Laker Pep Band has recently become a club sport, an introduction worth broadcasting is for the Director of Club Sports here at Lake State, Ruthann Cantile!!

Ruthann helps the Laker Pep Band put their vision in motion! She helps the band with the important task of recruiting and retaining fun, talented members!!

She is extremely excited to be working with the band this year, and she can’t wait to hear all of the catchy songs they will play that will enhance our LSSU hockey experience!! The Laker Pep Band has a new location within the student section of the Taffy Abel Arena, as well as a sharp new uniform, and she believes that this will only enhance the hockey attendance experience!

A fun fact about Ruthann is that she still plays ice hockey and as been coaching ice hockey for the last 25 years!! She also was in the Flag Corp and played clarinet!

A HUGE shoutout to Ruthann for all she has done for the band, and for how much she will continue to help us into the future!!

Our final Meet the Board Monday member is our public relations officer, Hannah Sawicki!! She is a sophomore in the Kinesiology program with a concentration in Rehabilitation Sciences, and a minor in Business.

Hannah is a member of the Pep Band’s trombone section, and she has been playing the trombone since her sophomore year of high school! She joined the Laker Pep Band as a freshman last year. One fun fact about Hannah is that she also plays six other instruments, including the piano and the guitar!

Today’s Meet the Board Monday member is Trevor Solander!!

Trevor is a junior in the Mechanical Engineering program, with a concentration in Robotics and Automation. He comes all the way from Shakopee, Minnesota!

Trevor is a member of the sousaphone section and this is his third year in the pep band, as well as his third year playing the sousaphone. He started on trombone in fifth grade! Catch Trevor livening up the band with Christmas lights wrapped around his instrument!!

Trevor is also the Vice President of Team Seamore, and helps Seamore accomplish everything he does around campus!

This week’s Meet the Board Monday is for our pep band secretary, Sydney Zuke!!

She is a senior in the Kinesiology program with a concentration in Rehabilitation Sciences and a minor in Biology. She plans to attend graduate schooling for Physical Therapy.

Sydney is a member of the Pep Band’s flute section! She has played the flute ever since she was in 6th grade. She joined the Pep Band as a freshman in 2017, and has participated ever since. One fun fact about Sydney is that she is also a member of the LSSU Women’s Club Soccer team! If you see her around, give her a wave!!

Next up on our Meet the Board Monday introductions is our Vice President, Timothy (Tim) Howes!!

Tim is a junior here at Lake State, studying Forensic Chemistry and Biochemistry. He has been playing various instruments for 10 years now, but his instrument of choice is the alto saxophone!
He has been a part of the Laker Pep Band for three years, and not only does he represent LSSU by playing with the band, he is also a current member of the LSSU Track and Field team!!

To begin our series of Meet-the-Board Mondays, we'll start with our club president: Brendan Adams!

Brendan plays the trumpet in pep band. He is an accounting major in his fifth year at Lake Superior State University, graduating in the Spring of 2021.

Brendan has been playing the trumpet since he first started band as a 6th grader. He began playing in the Laker Pep Band in 2016 when he first began coming to LSSU, and he has played with the band every year since!

On his own time, Brendan also plays the guitar. In addition to music, he enjoys hockey, motorsports, and nature, and also likes to spend time with his cat, Theo.

Brendan really enjoys working with others and being creative, which is probably why he has come to love pep band so much!
