Watch any pond or wetland this time of year and you'll likely spot dragonflies zipping around 🐉 They're actually fierce predators, snatching mosquitoes and other bugs mid-air. Some species can fly up to 30 miles per hour. Nature's tiny fighter jets!

Back-to-School Night is tomorrow! Join us August 26th from 3–6pm to tour classrooms, meet teachers, and wander the school grounds. Bring a picnic dinner and settle in for an evening of connecting with fellow Sugar Maple families.

If you are a student, don't forget to fill out your school forms & have your supplies ready. We can't wait to see you there!

Keep an eye on milkweed plants right now — monarch caterpillars are actively munching away! 🐛🧡 These striped little eaters are the reason monarchs survive at all — milkweed is the only plant their caterpillars can eat. See if you can spot one on your next walk!

Flip over a rock in a creek and you'll find a whole hidden world 🌊 Crayfish, dragonfly nymphs, water striders, and tadpoles are all hanging out in southeast Wisconsin's streams right now. A simple net and a curious eye is all it takes to become a stream scientist for the afternoon!

You may not see them, but turtle nests are hard at work right now! Wisconsin turtles laid their eggs back in late May and June, and those eggs are quietly incubating underground as we speak. Hatchlings won't emerge until late summer or early fall. Nature takes its time!
