I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to attend the COSSBA Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, representing Sauk Rapids-Rice Schools.

This experience was more than just professional development—it was a meaningful reminder of the responsibility and privilege we have to serve our community. Connecting with fellow board members from across Minnesota and the country strengthened my perspective and deepened my commitment to this role.

I return home with a renewed focus and a deep-rooted commitment to continue growing as a board member—so I can better support, advocate for, and lift up our entire school district community. Our students, staff, families, and community members deserve thoughtful leadership, strong partnerships, and a shared vision for success.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. It is an honor to serve Sauk Rapids-Rice, and I remain dedicated to helping our district thrive—together.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend time at the Minnesota State Capitol alongside fellow School Board Member Dan B. Johnson advocating for the Sauk Rapids–Rice School District. We met with several legislators to share the priorities and needs of our district, and to ensure the voices of our students, staff, and community are heard at the state level.

Advocating for strong schools means speaking up for the resources, support, and policies that help our students succeed and allow our educators to do their best work. I’m grateful for the time and thoughtful conversations with Sen. Wensenberg, Sen. Putnam, Sen. Howe, Rep. Mekeland, and Rep. Schultz.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of education in our community. Working together, we can continue building strong opportunities for every student in Sauk Rapids–Rice. 🎓📚🏛️

Earlier this Month, I was honored to attend the MSBA Delegate Assembly along with 117 other School Board delegates from accross our great state. The Assembly acted on 36 resolutions, adopting 23, and not adopting 13.

Key themes of these resolutions include:
⚡️Strengthening financial stability within our school districts
⚡️Supporting sustainable workforce and operational stability within all buildings
⚡️Improve all CTE, PSEO programs and funding
⚡️Fully recognize early learning students as a full pupil unit for budget and staffing calculations
⚡️Create measures to improve data privacy agreements and strengthen cybersecurity
⚡️Create a modern distribution formula for the Permanent School Fund

The overall impact of the 2025 MSBA Delegate Assembly strongly emphasized keeping local control with our School Boards, fiscal responsibility, workforce stability, and future-focused education policy, while exercising caution around proposals that could increase mandates, reduce transparency, or significantly alter existing accountability systems without clear funding or consensus.

I will continue to put Students and Staff of the Sauk Rapids-Rice schools first and advocate for stronger public schools!

💚💛I had the absolute honor to be a part of a 🪏ground 🪏breaking ceremony for two ‼️new practice ⚽️🏈⚾️🥎🥍 fields located to the north of the high school.

These fields are a physical representation of the hard work and collaboration between The City of Sauk Rapids and Sauk Rapids-Rice Schools put in to truly make our community simply the best!

I was lucky enough to help welcome back our ⚡️ High School Students ⚡️today by joining in on a Back to School Pep-Rally!!! The energy was infectious! Our students continue to amaze me each day with their outstanding leadership and dedication to welcoming all into these doors!

I may be bias, but I believe Sauk Rapids-Rice has the BEST students in the State!!!!!
