🌧️Rain Cloud Magic at Daisy Daycare!

Today we explored a simple but exciting “rain cloud” experiment! We filled a cup with water, added a fluffy layer of shaving cream on top, and then used droppers to add blue-colored water. As the clouds got “full,” the rain began to fall just like a real rainstorm! 🌧️

Afterwards, the fun didn’t stop… the kids got hands-on with their own “clouds” (aka shaving cream), turning it into a sensory play experience full of squishing, scooping, and exploring textures.

These simple activities may look like just play, but they’re doing so much more behind the scenes:
💙 Building fine motor skills (using droppers and hands)
💙 Encouraging curiosity and early science concepts
💙 Supporting sensory development through touch and texture
💙 Helping children become more comfortable with different textures—which can even support trying new foods!

✨ Tip for Parents:
You can easily recreate this at home! No droppers? No problem. Try using a spoon, a straw, or even let your child drizzle the colored water in themselves. And if the experiment turns into full-on shaving cream play… that’s a win too 😉

Learning through play is always our goal and today was a perfect example of just how magical (and messy 😉) that can be!

This was such a fun activity this year! The kids all drew their own faces and I carved them out for them to take home. Some of those lines were definitely tricky but I think they came out great!! And of course I had to try and make a daisy one ☺️

This past month, we had so much fun exploring our camping theme! The children built “campfires,” went on nature scavenger hunts, created camping crafts, enjoyed silly camp songs, and practiced teamwork through games and activities. We even made special snacks that tied into our theme. It felt just like being at camp!

The best part? Watching the children’s imaginations come alive as they pretended to be little campers, adventurers, and explorers. 🐾✨
