I spent Christmas weekend in Manhattan with my daughter, and then I met the family in Seattle. Not all of us, my sister couldn't make it, but I met my brother and his children and my mother.
I have an educational Theatre company that produces musicals about black history. Because I identify as a black man, my father is from Africa. I never met him and my mother gave me up for adoption so I never met her until I was in my 30s.
The parents raised me were Puerto Rican, and Filipino, I grew up in the Bronx in a mixed neighborhood. My entire life I have experienced acceptance and joy and cruelty from all races.
And at 60 years old, I can only implore my children and implore people that I know not to hate any race of people because of the racists that are so loud. There are so many beautiful people in every race, I really look and strive to focus on the similarities and not the differences because we are so similar
whether your left or right, whether you're Biden or Trump, whether you're Chinese or your Jewish
, it was an expensive trip, but I believe that every dime that I spend trying to make my children, more tolerant, more accepting and more loving and expanding their minds to other places, and letting them know that Love is stronger than hate
I make the world a little bit better, my plays always stress celebration of my people in the face of obstacles and cruelty.
As I turn the next chapter of this new year, I pray that God gives us all the strength to remember that we are one people in this country,
that we all love our children, and we all want to make the world a better place

In fear and hatred. Sometimes it seems all we hear is negativity and doom and gloom from the media and whoever you vote for has their own script, which makes us more fearful of each other.
Please, for the sake of our children, let's work for a better planet, let's work for a healthier and loving America.
