Ox-Bow School of Art and Artists' Residency

Ox-Bow School of Art and Artists' Residency Ox-Bow’s campus encompasses 115-acres of pristine natural forests, dunes, a lagoon, and historic buildings located in Saugatuck, MI.

OX-BOW SCHOOL OF ART & ARTISTS’ RESIDENCY was established in 1910 and continues its mission of connecting artists to a network of creative resources, people, and ideas; an energizing natural environment; and a rich artistic history and vital future. Ox-Bow has been in operation for over 100 years and continues to provide an immersive environment for artists to explore traditional and contemporary modes of art-making. Ox-Bow provides a singular experience that respects historical techniques while bending genres into new formats, in an environment outside of the everyday, where creativity is paramount.

Ox-Bow's fall’s Art on the Meadow workshops offer a chance to spend a day in creative practice, learn from artists, and explore new materials and techniques. Try autumnal ikebana or natural ink making on campus, explore botanical illustration or urban sketching at Ox-Bow House, or spend a day with walnut ink, punch needle, or longleaf pine needles.

Whether you’re an experienced maker or looking to try something new, spend a day making, experimenting, and learning with us this fall. 🍂

More than a meal. Join us October 3 for Ox-Bow’s Fall Harvest Dinner, an evening where food becomes a shared artistic experience.

Our 2026 Culinary Artists in Residence, Cheyenne Broughton, Wei Cheng, Rae Friedman, Noya Kansky, and Luna Vela, will come together to create a seasonal, multi-course dinner featuring ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors.

Throughout the evening, they’ll share their work and the creative processes behind the meal.

Set on the Ox-Bow meadow at our Saugatuck, Michigan campus, the evening includes wine pairings, conversation, and an opportunity to experience the artists’ work firsthand.

The Harvest Dinner is a fundraiser supporting Ox-Bow’s work to create the time, space, and community artists need to create.

October 3, 2026 | 5:30–9:00 p.m. ET
$200 early bird through September 15 | $225 after
Limited to 100 seats.

Come to the table. Tickets at the link in bio.

At this year’s Field of Vision Summer Benefit, we were pleased to recognize Todd Warnock as Ox-Bow’s Community Honoree.
For decades, Todd’s generosity and leadership have helped shape the Ox-Bow many of us know and love. Maybe you’ve stayed in The Janie or The Marshall. Maybe you’ve walked the trails through the Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area, the protected dune ecosystem adjacent to Ox-Bow that Todd helped establish. Maybe you’ve simply spent time on the Warnock Meadow, making, learning, or dancing.
Todd’s legacy is part of this place, and part of so many people’s Ox-Bow experiences.
Watch this short video by 2025 Summer Fellow Nolan Zunk to learn more about his lasting impact.

Bubble Bath Pizza Party 🍕🫧

Ox-Bow and Modales Wines are teaming up for Ox-Bow’s final Friday Night Open Studio of the season, starting early at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 21.

Modales’ sparkling red Bubble Bath is “pizza-party approved,” and Ox-Bow’s kitchen team will have a limited selection of pizzas available first come, first served.

Come for the pizza and bubbles, stay for open studios, our live auction, and the famous Ox-Bow sunset on the lagoon. The event is free and open to the public, with drinks and pizza available for purchase. We recommend foam-friendly attire 🛁🫧

In her latest Director’s Note, Shannon reflects on the communities that take shape at Ox-Bow each summer, and what we might learn from spending time in a place where art, play, work, and community come together.

"Institutions have a way of creating detachment where there should be connection, even when art and culture are the exact lens we need to see ourselves and others. Communities like Ox-Bow are places capable of radically shifting what people believe is possible for living—by collapsing the line between art and life completely."

Michelle Grabner, Ox-Bow’s 2026 Field of Vision Art and Environment Honoree. As an artist, educator, and longtime member of this community, her influence continues to shape how we learn, make, and come together at Ox-Bow.
We invite you to share a memory of Michelle and the ways her work, teaching, and time have been a part of your Ox-Bow experience.

One week ago, we gathered on the Warnock Meadow for Field of Vision: Beyond the Canvas, honoring the artists, educators, and supporters who have shaped Ox-Bow for more than a century. The vital funds we raised will help preserve Ox-Bow's campus and provide time and space for artists at any stage to develop their practices within a vibrant and supportive community.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Field of Vision benefit possible. From generous experiences and artwork donations for the auction, to the encouragement and support of our board and committee, to the hands-on help from volunteers, fellows and staff, we are so very grateful.

Call for Volunteers ✨
This summer, we’re preparing for Field of Vision, Ox-Bow’s annual benefit celebrating the artists, educators, and supporters who make this community possible.
We’re looking for local volunteers to help bring the event to life in the week leading up (July 6–10). From painting and raking to setting up auction items and stringing lights, there are lots of ways to get involved.
As a thank you, volunteers who contribute 8 hours will receive a credit for a 3-hour Art on the Meadow workshop.
Interested? Reach out to Kate Nguyen at [email protected] with your availability.
Can’t volunteer but still want to support? Consider donating artwork to the auction.
We’d love to have you be part of it. 🌿
