I may not teach the classes anymore, but I do make 90% of our curriculum now, including Maker Lab. This was a very fun class to plan over the summer, but I will be honest - planning a 3- week unit on using hand tools (which we’re wrapping up today), or natural dyeing (which we start Oct 12th, the day after I arrive at 9pm from an international flight..) is much easier than actually implementing said lessons with 3 groups of 12 students each 😅
Ms. Brooke will not be sad when the hammering is over after today, and I will not be sad when this natural dyes unit is over 😵‍💫
At least the kids have fun, and I am learning methods for creating dye baths (thankfully turmeric, instant coffee & 100% beet juice can be made instantly). The only one that needs to be premade is cabbage, so I’m making that today & freezing bags flat so they’re ready to go 2 weeks from today.
Always an adventure, running this school!

Another fun Friday meetup! This Friday, we did ice skating with our friends at Multitudes Collective. Last week we were at Island H2O waterpark, but had too much fun & didn’t get any pics!
These Friday meetups this year have been awesome - I’ve always wanted to plan them, but the busyness of the school year always seems to get the better of me and we only do a handful. This year, I’ve planned things almost every week through December, and hope to continue weekly events throughout 2027.
Life is better with friends ❤️

We are now enrolling for TERM 2, and have several openings each day of the week! All days are stand alone (kids can attend 1-4 days/week), and kids can join us at any time during the year. Our morning classes take place 9:30-12:30 where kids rotate to 3 different teachers for 3 different classes each day, and our full days include lunch, study hall (math and reading from home - we provide support for choosing curriculum as well as several free programs for families who need help figuring this part out, and teachers are there to help as needed), and free time from 12:30-2:30. It's the best safe, fun, academic, part time, flexible hybrid program around - don't miss out on one of these openings if you think your child would love it! Reach out today to set up a tour or snag a spot!!

Monday kids learning about hand tools today in Maker Lab! Our Monday classes (Speech & Debate and Entrepreneur Lab are the other 2 Monday classes) are so much fun, and such important areas of study in this day & age!

We still have a 7th-9th spot open this term (a great time to try a drop in day!) & currently have both one 3rd-5th and one 7th-9th spot open for Mondays next term (Oct 12-Dec 17th), so reach out today if you think your kiddo would love these classes (or you want them learning these super important skills!).
Term 2 maker topics are natural dyeing, mapping & navigation, and food science (making butter, bread & jam) - SO FUN 🤩

We're 1/2 way through term 1 with some space still available in our older groups for this term, and are now enrolling CURRENT students for term 2 as well as NEW STUDENTS if space is open for term 2 (ie - I'll be loosing some students from term 1 who are not enrolling for term 2 - those spots are open to new students looking to join us for term 2). Reach out to tour our space, try a day ($50/morning, $75 full day) or enroll for the remainder of term 1 or term 2 given space!

Super fun meetup at Route 7 last week! We’ve planned meetups almost every week for the first 2 terms, and it’s been so fun getting kids together outside of class time & seeing friendships grow!
Our next meetup is at Sebastian Inlet on Sept 11th, and like our last, and all others, everyone is welcome! I’ve planned many of these with my friend Anna from Multitudes Collective (another homeschool group in Brevard - they host fun dances & get togethers, check them out if you haven’t!) - so even if you don’t come to CCL for classes, feel free to join us at any of our events! No rsvps or prepayment for anything is needed for most, just show up if you can make it!

Did you know that each of our days include bound notebooks with all 9 weeks of work inside? Kids who come Tuesdays have a Tuesday book, kids who come Mondays & Wednesdays have a Monday and a Wednesday book, etc. I started this last year & it’s been SO helpful for keeping kids organized & continuing to work on classes outside of our once a week meetings.
Did you also know that I create 90% of our curriculum for all classes, print 100% of it & bind 100% of it myself?
Yes, I’m over-invested in this not so little dream school of mine, but if I wasn’t spending 60-80hrs/week on this, I’d be spending it on something else, so may as well lean in!
I love what we’ve built at CCL!
