More than just a familiar face on campus, our SRO works each day to build positive relationships, support students and staff, and help keep our school safe.

🚨 BACK TO SAFETY WEEK: HERE’S YOUR SIGN! 🛑

STOP means STOP — whether you’re driving a car, riding a bike, or riding an e-bike.

Florida law requires bicyclists and e-bike riders to obey applicable traffic laws, including STOP signs and traffic signals. City of Satellite Beach Ordinance also requires bicyclists riding on our streets to follow the duties imposed on vehicle drivers.

🚲 Riders: That STOP sign applies to you, too. It’s not a suggestion.

🚗 Drivers: Come to a complete stop and watch for bikes, e-bikes, and pedestrians before proceeding.

Satellite Beach students are heading back to school Monday! 🚌📚

Not sure when you’re required to stop for a school bus? In most cases, the answer is YES! Here’s a quick refresher:

🛑 Two-Lane & Multi-Lane Roads: Traffic traveling in both directions MUST stop.

🛑 Divided Highways (with a raised barrier or an unpaved median at least 5 feet wide): Traffic traveling behind the bus MUST stop. Vehicles traveling in the opposite direction may proceed with caution.

School buses mean kids are nearby. Slow down, stay alert, and help us keep our students safe as they head back to school! 💙🚌

🐾 Support the Scottie Surf Shack! 🐾

At DeLaura, we celebrate positive behavior through our SHAKE program: Safety, Hard Work, Accountability, Kindness, and Engagement. Students earn points for demonstrating these traits and can spend them on fun rewards at the Scottie Surf Shack!

We're excited to launch our Focus point system, where families can view teacher comments and students can save points for bigger rewards.

To support this endeavor we are accepting donations. Items can be dropped off at school or shipped directly from Amazon to DeLaura Middle School.

⏰ Surf Shack Hours: Thursdays & Fridays, 9:05-9:27 a.m.

Scottie Families, Please Plan Ahead for Back-to-School Traffic Changes!

To help keep our students, families, staff, pedestrians, and motorists safe, the City has implemented a temporary traffic plan around Holland Elementary, DeLaura Middle, and Satellite High School for the start of the school year.

✅ Use Scorpion Court whenever possible for entering and exiting the area.
✅ Expect a closure on Jackson Avenue between Pineapple Street and Orange Street.
✅ Additional crossing guards and increased police presence will be in place.
✅ Allow extra travel time during arrival and dismissal.

⚠️ The gate connecting Scorpion Court and Stinger Lane will remain closed, though Stinger Lane will remain open.

Please review the attached traffic map before heading to campus and be prepared for alternate routes. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to ensure a safe start to the school year!

🚀 Preplanning has officially BLASTED OFF! 👩‍🚀👽✨

Our Scotties are gearing up for an incredible year, and our teachers brought their Blast Off to Success spirit to life! From astronauts and aliens to full-on space suits, our staff showed us they’re ready for lift-off! 🚀🐾

🌟 Congratulations to Mrs. Mumme, Mrs. Martin, and Ms. Kidd, our spirit contest winners! They each earned some fun prizes for going ALL IN on the theme! 🎉

Today we officially welcomed our teachers back to DeLaura Middle School, and the excitement for a new year is already in the air!

Our staff started the morning with a delicious breakfast from Banana River Cafe, picked up their new “Blast Off to Success” shirts, and received a Chick-fil-A gift to kick off the year. Most importantly, they spent the day doing what they do best, working hard to prepare their classrooms and create welcoming spaces for our Scotties.

The dedication, creativity, and heart our teachers pour into getting ready for students is truly inspiring. We can’t wait to welcome our Scotties back and make this our best year yet!
