FRC Team 2813: Gear Heads

Last Sunday, we had the opportunity to participate in the RoboZone at the San Mateo County Fair with our 2026 FRC robot, Cart2cus! We loved interacting with so many kids, showcasing our robot, and talking with parents about FLL camps. Throughout the event, our table stayed busy with people asking questions and learning more about STEM and our team. It was such a fun and inspiring day for everyone. A big thank you to Team 5026, the Iron Panthers, for organizing and coordinating such an amazing opportunity!

Over the past two months, our team presented Cart2cus, our 2026 competition robot, at several local middle and elementary schools to engage students with STEM and our team. At these schools' open houses, we spread awareness of FIRST programs, as well as our 2813's summer FLL and Python programs to inspire the next wave of engineers. Students had a BLAST interacting with the robot, and many walked away with some of our cool swag! Thank you to Easterbrook Discovery School for allowing us to demonstrate our robot after school, and thank you to Moreland Middle School, Baker Elementary School, Payne Elementary School, Latimer School, and Country Lane Elementary School for providing us these opportunities to present at your Open Houses and engage with your students!

Last week, our team had the incredible opportunity to participate at the Northern California District Championship. We competed against 60 impressive teams, and ranked 10th in matches overall! We were alliance 7 captain, alongside our alliance partners, 4698 - Raider Robotics, and 6962 - Antares. It was an amazing experience, where over 35 of our team members did an outstanding job in pit, drive, scouting, media, and awards. Through our hard work, we managed to qualify for the FIRST World Championship! We are so excited to have the opportunity to compete, learn and grow there. A huge thank you to our alliance partners and all of the hardworking volunteers who made this event possible. We hope to see you at champs!

Earlier this month, our team participated in the Moreland Middle Open House, inspiring the next generation of engineers with our 2022 FRC robot Wade Jones. The students learned what it's like to be part of an FRC team while parents found ways to involve their child in our summer STEM camps. The kids were introduced to fabrication, electrical, and programming. Thank you to the MMS staff for this opportunity!

One week ago, we brought our 2022 robot Wade Jones to Marshall Lane Elementary school for their STEAM day. We had a great time interacting with the kids and sharing our love of FIRST and STEM. Thank you to the parents and staff of Marshall Lane for giving us the opportunity to expand our outreach to a new local school.
