Over the World Cup final weekend, we brought Cart2Cus, our 2026 Rebuilt robot, to Open Sauce. Our team showcased our bot alongside other Bay Area FRC teams, and captured the attention of children interested in STEM, and other Open Sauce attendees. We also got to explore other robotics related projects at this event, including a robotic shopping cart! Our team members had so much fun showcasing what our robot can do and how engaging STEM can be.

On September 5th from 11am-5pm at Prospect High School’s Student Union, FRC Team 2813 will host Girls in STEM Inspiration Day, a free event for 6th–12th grade girls to explore STEM through fun, hands-on workshops. Activities include coding, STEM puzzles, ice cream making, and an introduction to FIRST Lego League, along with speed mentoring sessions with Society of Women Engineers (SWE) members, where participants will rotate and connect with different mentors. The day will also include a tour of the robotics lab, a live robot demonstration, and a fun game of Kahoot to close out the event.

A few weeks ago, we concluded Week 1 for our annual Bricks for the Future Camp!! Over the span of a week, students from our team led elementary and middle schoolers through the basics of building and programming a robot while also teaching them how to research solutions to real-world problems and present their findings, all while working as part of a team. On behalf of our team, we’d like to give a huge thank you to our volunteers and mentors for their effort in making this camp possible, as we couldn’t have done it without them.

Additionally, if you’re hoping to start an FLL team of your own, the FIRST website has all the necessary details and information, spanning from how to start a team to competition details. We as a team are willing to help as well, as students can provide mentoring, FLL tables and kits, and so much more. The QR code towards the end provides a link to a slideshow detailing everything you need to know, as well as additional resources. Last Sunday, we had the opportunity to participate in the RoboZone at the San Mateo County Fair with our 2026 FRC robot, Cart2cus! We loved interacting with so many kids, showcasing our robot, and talking with parents about FLL camps. Throughout the event, our table stayed busy with people asking questions and learning more about STEM and our team. It was such a fun and inspiring day for everyone. A big thank you to Team 5026, the Iron Panthers, for organizing and coordinating such an amazing opportunity!

Over the past two months, our team presented Cart2cus, our 2026 competition robot, at several local middle and elementary schools to engage students with STEM and our team. At these schools' open houses, we spread awareness of FIRST programs, as well as our 2813's summer FLL and Python programs to inspire the next wave of engineers. Students had a BLAST interacting with the robot, and many walked away with some of our cool swag! Thank you to Easterbrook Discovery School for allowing us to demonstrate our robot after school, and thank you to Moreland Middle School, Baker Elementary School, Payne Elementary School, Latimer School, and Country Lane Elementary School for providing us these opportunities to present at your Open Houses and engage with your students!
