Hello parents,

Thank you again for all of your support and help. I was emailed about the Eagle Mountain Christmas concert. It is Friday and Saturday, December 5th and 6th. I have asked for a time on Friday but the schedule has not yet been created. I will keep you updated. Thanks. This concert is separate from the school Christmas concert on December 12th. We will not perform all of our songs but it is nice to be a part of. All of the other schools in the address usually participate.

I am excited to start up the choir again this year. Our first rehearsal will begin tomorrow at 3:30 pm and finish up at 4:30 pm. Rehearsal will start in the gym on the steps of the stage and then move to the kiva for a little bit. When rehearsal is over I will ask the students to stay inside until they see their parents car from the vestibule to be sure that everyone is safe.

Here are a few notes about how choir is run for your reference:

Strike System:
I run a 3 strike system for the school choir. If I have behavior problems I give two warnings and then send home a strike sheet which must be signed by the parent and then returned to me. If a child receives 3 strikes they will be put on probation. If any further problems occur they will be asked to leave the choir. I feel that it is a privilege to be in choir and it is not fair to other choir members to have to waste most of our rehearsal dealing with discipline problems.

Missing rehearsals:
I ask that members of the choir try to attend every rehearsal and concert. I understand that things come up which is why I am giving each choir member one free absence. After that each absence will count as a strike against the student. This means that a student may miss up to 4 rehearsals without being asked to leave the choir if their are no behavior problems. Please email me when your child must miss a rehearsal so that I can let you know of any info they may have missed and so that I know you are aware of their absence. Rehearsals will not be held on days that there is no school.

Concert Dates:
The days that the choir will be singing for this fall semester are the Veteran's Day Assembly on November 14th, the Holiday Choir Concert on December 12th at 7 pm, and the Eagle Mountain Christmas Sing TBA. All choir members are asked to be there a half hour early to warm-up and be lined up to get on stage. Please leave these dates open for your child to attend the concert. Concert attire is always the choir t-shirt with nice jeans without holes.

Volunteers:
I am looking for flute players who would like to volunteer to play in one of our songs for the Holiday Christmas concert this year. I would only ask you to come to one or two rehearsals to practice with the choir and of course to perform at the concert. I also welcome anyone else who would like to volunteer to help this year.
