Team Billy Ride and Walk for Research We thank you for your past support. The event supports the Billy Grey Chair of Research, administered by the National Brain Tumor Society.

Team Billy was founded in 2004 in memory of Billy Grey by his family and friends after he lost his battle to a brain tumor in 2001. 2024 was the 20th and last year we hosted Team Billy in Saratoga Springs. Drawing over 600 supporters every year and has raised more than $2.5 M.

Hello Team Billy supporters, fellow riders, walkers, family, and friends,

This October, I’ll be riding in the Blood Cancer United Velo Palmetto Bike Ride in Greenville, South Carolina, representing Team Billy and honoring my son, Billy.

Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) funds groundbreaking research and patient support programs that are helping to transform cancer treatment. In fact, approximately 40% of cancer therapies approved by the FDA since 2000 were first developed for blood cancer patients, leading to advances in the treatment of many other cancers as well.

Alongside 50 dedicated riders, our goal is to help raise more than $1 million to support research and bring hope to patients and families facing blood cancers.

By participating in this ride, I’m doing what Billy would have wanted—helping others.

After 20 years of Team Billy Ride and Walk for Research, the walk to support National Brain Tumor Society will be run as Capital Region Walk for Brain Tumor Research. Ken Grey will be participating and has established Team Billy to continue to raise funds. Please consider donating or participating by going to braintumor.org and search under Events. As most of you know, Team Billy is embarking upon a milestone year, TWENTY, wow! However, it’s bittersweet in that this will be our (Ken & Cherie) last year running the event. Team Billy was started in honor of our son, Billy, who lost his fight to a brain tumor in 2001. To date, the event has raised over $2.9M to help fund promising brain tumor research grants. Although this was not an easy decision, we’re proud of the impact that this event has made within the brain tumor community. With that said, we could not have done it without the unwavering support of the community and people like you, so THANK YOU! And while it’s our last year to host what we’ve come to know as Team Billy, the initiative is expected to continue in some form in the future.

If you have not singed up yet, please consider joining us Sunday, May 19th for our final ride or walk around Saratoga Springs, NY (link in bio). We’d love to see some friendly faces or new ones and make this last year a memorable one.

Again, thank you for making a difference with us. We’re eternally grateful and appreciative of the commitment and support all of you have given us year after year. We hope that Billy’s legacy, and beneficial fundraising for brain tumor research will continue for years to come!
