Last week, members of the S**C Education team attended the Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability (LEAD®) Conference at The Kennedy Center in Philadelphia, joining arts and cultural professionals from around the world who share a commitment to making the arts more accessible and inclusive.

Throughout the conference, Dennis and Jess explored innovative strategies, learned from leaders across the field, and connected with organizations working to expand access to meaningful arts experiences for people of all abilities.

Reflecting on the experience, Dennis shares: “Accessibility is an ongoing commitment at S**C, and we’re grateful for the ideas and connections we can bring back to our community as we continue working to make the arts more welcoming and accessible for everyone."

We're grateful for opportunities like LEAD that inspire new ideas, foster collaboration, and strengthen our commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where everyone can experience the transformative power of the arts.

With another S**C Summer Arts Camp in the books, we're reflecting on three unforgettable weeks of creativity, collaboration, and discovery. ☀️

🌲 Throughout the summer, young artists explored music, theater, dance, and visual arts alongside our talented teaching artists. From creating a collaborative tree that will have a permanent home at the School of the Arts, to observing insects with Karin Badey from Friends of Saratoga Spa State Park, to visiting the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery and experiencing a live butterfly house, every experience encouraged campers to learn, create, and grow. Along the way, they built confidence, formed new friendships, and discovered new ways to express themselves through the arts.

🍽️ A special thank you to Shirley's Diner, Putnam Market, Spring Street Deli And Pizzeria, and West Avenue Pizzeria for helping keep our campers nourished and ready to create all summer long. Your generosity and support helped make this unforgettable experience possible.

🙏 Thank you to our campers, families, teaching artists, partner organizations, and community supporters for making this year's camp such a meaningful experience. We can't wait to welcome the next group of young artists!

Movement has a way of bringing people together.

On August 24, join S**C Education for two FREE community workshops inspired by the collaborative movement style of PILOBOLUS. Whether you're introducing a young learner to dance or looking to try something new yourself, these welcoming experiences are open to all. No dance experience is required!

🕺 Momentum Playground invites children to explore games, imagination, and collaborative activities that build confidence while discovering all the ways they can express themselves.

💃 Gathering Momentum welcomes adults of all experience levels to connect with others, explore new forms of creative expression, and experience the joy of creating as a community.

Plus, both free workshops serve as an introduction to full-session classes launching this fall, with registration now open for those who want to continue exploring. Learn more about all three opportunities below!

This summer, imagination is in full swing at Double H Ranch. ✨

Throughout July and August, S**C Education teaching artists, led by Manager of Dance Education Frankie Soldevere Brandt, are spending time with campers creating original 1980s-themed stories through theater, dance, and music. From brainstorming new ideas to bringing them to life through creative performance, each session is filled with collaboration, self-expression, and plenty of joy. ❤️

Programs like this help create welcoming spaces where every camper can explore, create, and experience the joy of the arts. We're grateful to partner with Double H Ranch to share these meaningful creative experiences and look forward to making more memories together throughout this summer and years to come.

July is , a time to celebrate the talents, perspectives, and contributions of people with disabilities while recognizing the importance of creating spaces where everyone can create, connect, and belong. 💚

At S**C School of the Arts, we're proud to support that mission through All-Access Nights, where students ages 5–17, with and without disabilities, come together each Wednesday evening to explore music, dance, and theatre in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Thoughtfully designed with low-sensory accommodations, accessible resources, and dedicated support, All-Access Nights helps ensure every participant feels comfortable, confident, and celebrated while fostering creativity, connection, and a sense of belonging.

Last week, S**C Education welcomed participants of all ages and abilities into the studio for a series of inspiring workshops led by New York City Ballet dancers. 🩰

Held each year during NYCB's summer residency at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, these interactive sessions invited participants to experience the artistry and athleticism of ballet through guided movement and creative exploration. From the Ballet Essentials Workshop for teens and adults, to NYCB In Motion for children, to Access Workshops designed for movers of all abilities, each session created a welcoming space to connect with dance in a meaningful way.

A heartfelt thank you to the NYCB artists who shared their passion and expertise, and to everyone who joined us. We loved seeing our community come together to experience the joy of movement, creativity, and the performing arts. 💙

If you missed these workshops, there's still more to experience this summer! Join us next month for interactive workshops with S**C's resident company, The Philadelphia Orchestra. Learn more and register here: https://bit.ly/4fdesjO

It may be the heat of summer, but we’re already doing a happy dance thinking about fall! 🕺🍂

Fall is the perfect time to discover something new. Whether you're curious about dance, music, or visual arts, S**C School of the Arts offers a welcoming space to learn, grow, and create at your own pace!

Never taken an arts class before? You're not alone. Our introductory classes are open to all skill levels, and many of our students are trying something new for the very first time.

Rather than focusing on a recital or final performance, our classes celebrate the creative process, encouraging exploration, confidence, and joy every step of the way.
Fall registration opens TODAY, with classes running September 14 - November 20, 2026.

This Spring, more than 3,000 students across the Adirondack, Saratoga, and Capital Regions experienced the joy of dance through Classical Kids, S**C Education’s flagship in-school program presented in partnership with BalletX. 🩰✨

Known for its innovative approach to contemporary ballet, BalletX brought professional dancers and musicians directly into local schools for interactive performances that introduced students to movement, music, and storytelling through dance.

This year also marked the first-ever Classical Kids school day performance held in the S**C amphitheater, giving students the opportunity to experience the arts together in one of the region’s most iconic performance spaces.

As this year’s program comes to a close, we’re grateful to BalletX, our partner schools, educators, and families for helping inspire creativity and connection in classrooms across the region. Each participating student also received a FREE ticket to a performance during S**C’s summer classical season and a S**C Student Lawn Pass to continue exploring the arts all summer long.
