New College Social Media Commenting Policy

Our mission at New College of Florida is to create a positive, respectful environment where people can feel comfortable openly sharing their thoughts, ideas, and opinions. The New College social media accounts and website are a visible presence and extension of the College, wherever people engage with them. The administrators of New College social media

are charged with upholding this mission, and ensuring that the comment sections of our posts are a space for open dialogue. However, we will take action against comments that undermine our mission, including:

Use of vulgar, profane, racist, or otherwise inappropriate language; Spam or inappropriate promotion; Anything that may be deemed to be harmful to others in our online or on-campus community, that may negatively impact the reputation of New College of Florida or viewed as disparaging the work or actions of others in our campus community. These decisions are at the discretion of the College’s social media accounts administrators. We do not like to remove comments, however, these decisions are at the discretion of the College’s social media accounts administrators. New College of Florida has earned its strongest recognition to date from The Princeton Review, receiving national distinctions for faculty, academic quality, financial aid, value and its record of preparing students for successful futures.

The College was named to The Princeton Review’s Best 392 Colleges, Best in the South and the 50 Colleges That Create Futures. It ranked No. 2 nationally among Top Schools for Financial Aid and No. 24 among Best College Values.
“The latest Princeton Review results tell a very different story from the political narrative often imposed on New College,” said President Richard Corcoran. “Students describe a college defined by exceptional professors, academic strength, financial support, value and opportunity, not political activism nor ideological conformity.”

A week of asking bigger questions.

This summer, students from across the country joined us for the New College Summer Scholars Program, where curiosity became discovery. From marine research and archaeology to great discussion, scholars spent the week learning alongside distinguished faculty and equally driven peers.
They arrived with questions. They left with new ideas, lasting friendships, and a deeper understanding of what they’re capable of.

Today, we mourn the passing of former Florida State Senator Fred Dudley, a dedicated public servant, respected attorney, and trusted counselor to New College of Florida.

Fred devoted much of his life to serving the people of Florida with integrity, wisdom, and a deep belief in public service. His contributions to our state were significant, but those of us at New College also remember him for his service as General Counsel and for the steady guidance he provided to the institution during important moments in its history.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Fred was a devoted father and proud Floridian who inspired a passion for public service in the next generation. His impact will continue to be felt through the many lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.

On behalf of the New College community, I extend our deepest condolences to Chris, Charlie, and the entire Dudley family. We are grateful for Fred’s service, friendship, and enduring contributions to Florida and to New College.
