โ ๏ธ Does your low back pain climb UP your back?
๐ฃ Pain just above one hip? ๐ฃ Tightness on one side of your lower back? ๐ฃ Pain that creeps upward next to your spine? ๐ฃ Achy hip that won't seem to loosen up? ๐ฃ Pain that's worse after sitting or standing too long?
It might not be your spine...
๐ One of the most common muscles I find involved is the Quadratus Lumborum (QL)โa deep muscle that helps stabilize your spine and pelvis. When it's overworked, it can refer pain into your low back, hip, buttock, and even up one side of your back.
That's exactly why I use a simple movement I call "Sit, Turn & Lean."
โ
It helps gently lengthen the QL while also improving mobility through the obliques and hip flexorsโareas that commonly become stiff from prolonged sitting.
๐ก Remember: stretching isn't always the complete answer. If the muscles causing the pain aren't retrained afterward, the tightness often comes right back.
Move better. Feel better. Stay active.

๐ข GOSD: GLUTES ON. SHOULDERS DOWN.
If you sit for hours every day ๐ป or sleep curled up with your hips and knees bent ๐๏ธ, your body spends a LOT of time in a flexed position.
Over time, your hip flexors can become stiff and less comfortable with full hip extension.
And your lower back may start picking up the slack. โ ๏ธ
๐ง HERE'S WHY:
One of your major hip flexorsโthe psoasโattaches along the lumbar spine.
When your hips aren't moving well and your glutes aren't contributing enough, your body may compensate through the pelvis and lower back.
So instead of stretching your back over and over...
Try changing what your body is doing throughout the day. ๐
๐ GLUTES ON
When standing or walking, lightly engage the glute on the leg that's pushing you forward.
You don't need a hard squeeze. โ
Just remind the glutes:
"Hey... this is your job."
โฌ๏ธ SHOULDERS DOWN
Let your shoulders settle away from your ears.
โ Don't force them backward. โ Don't puff out your chest. โ
Just reduce the unnecessary tension.
Now put the two together:
๐ข GOSD
๐ Glutes On โฌ๏ธ Shoulders Down
It's not an exercise.
It's a postural reminder.
๐ป At your desk ๐ถ While walking ๐ At the grocery store ๐๏ธ At the gym ๐ง Standing in line
GOSD.
A simple reminder to get the right muscles involvedโand stop asking your lower back and neck to do everything.
๐ Remember it today:
๐ GLUTES ON. โฌ๏ธ SHOULDERS DOWN. ๐ข GOSD.
โ๏ธ Persistent or radiating back pain, numbness, weakness, or symptoms that aren't improving deserve an evaluation. Don't assume tight hip flexors are the only cause.

๐จ Lower back pain that won't go away?
Or maybe your pain travels...
โก Down your leg
๐ฆต Into the front of your thigh
โฌ๏ธ Up your back
The problem may not be your back at all.
It could be tight hip flexors that never get a chance to relax.
Here's one simple habit to practice:
๐ Turn your glutes on.
Not by squeezing as hard as you can...
Instead, gently alternate glute squeezes like you're walking.
๐ฃ Right glute... ๐ฃ Left glute... ๐ฃ Right... ๐ฃ Left...
Your brain starts remembering that your glutesโnot your hip flexorsโare supposed to do the work.
While you're sitting...
๐บ Keep a gentle squeeze in your glutes.
Not both sides as hard as possible.
Just enough to remind your body they're still there.
Why does this help?
โ
Gives your hip flexors permission to relax
โ
Supports your pelvis
โ
Reduces stress on your lower back
โ
Can decrease pain that travels into the leg or front of the thigh
๐ก Many people spend all day sitting, driving, and standing with "sleeping glutes" and overworked hip flexors.
Teaching your glutes to wake up again can change how your back feels throughout the day.
๐พ Save this post.
๐ค Share it with someone who's always rubbing their lower back.
If your pain keeps returning, an evaluation can help determine whether your hipsโnot your spineโare driving the problem.
โณ Does your elbow hurt after a round of golf?
It may not be your swing...
It may be an overworked forearm tendon.
If you're feeling:
๐ฏ Pain on the inside of your elbow ๐ช Weak grip strength ๐๏ธ Pain during or after your swing โ Even lifting a coffee cup hurts...
Try this exercise.
๐ Eccentric Wrist Pronation
Slowly resist the movement as your wrist turns back.
This helps lengthen the muscles under load, which encourages the tendon to heal and tolerate stress again.
โ
Perform 10โ15 slow repetitions โ
2โ3 times per day
After your round:
๐ง Ice your elbow for 10โ15 minutes to calm irritation.
Later that evening:
๐ฅ Apply heat to improve blood flow and help the muscles relax.
Consistency matters more than intensity.
Most cases of golfer's elbow improve when the tendon is given the right kind of loading, not complete rest.
โณ Stick with it for several weeks, and many people notice a significant reduction in pain.
๐พ Save this for your next golf round.
๐ค Share it with the golfer who always says, "It's my elbow again."
If your pain isn't improving or keeps coming back, an evaluation can help determine why your elbow is overloaded and build a plan to get you back on the course comfortably.
๐ป Does your desk job cause THIS kind of pain? ๐
โ Neck pain โ Headaches at the base of your skull โ Tight upper traps โ Pain between your shoulder blades โ Pain down the back or side of your arm โ Aching into the front of your shoulder or chest
It might not be your spine...
๐ It may be your posture.
When you spend hours with: ๐ฅ๏ธ Your head pushed toward the screen โฌ๏ธ Your shoulders shrugged up toward your ears ๐ฌ Your neck muscles constantly working
..the muscles in the front and sides of your neck (called the scalenes) and your upper trapezius can become overworked and begin referring pain into the neck, shoulders, arms, chest, and even cause headaches.
โ
Try this while you're working:
โ๏ธ Bring your head back over your shoulders (think "double chin," not looking down). โ๏ธ Let your shoulders relax downโdon't force them back. โ๏ธ Keep your elbows close to your sides. โ๏ธ Position your screen at eye level so you aren't constantly reaching your face toward it. โ๏ธ Every 30โ60 minutes, stand up and move for a minute or two.
Small posture changes repeated throughout the day can make a huge difference.
If you've been told, "Your scans look normal," but your neck and shoulders still hurt, the problem may be how your muscles are functioning, not just what your imaging shows.
๐MD Fit helps identify movement and muscular patterns that contribute to pain and develops individualized rehabilitation plans to help you moveโand feelโbetter.

If you have:
๐ฅ Plantar fasciitis ๐ฆต Tight or sore calves ๐ Pain after walking or running โฌ๏ธ Limited squat depth
Try this simple exercise.
๐ Eccentric calf drops.
Stand on the edge of a step.
โฌ๏ธ Rise up with both feet.
โฌ๏ธ Slowly lower down on one foot over 3โ5 seconds.
Repeat 10โ15 times on each side.
๐ก Do this at least 1โ2 times per day. More frequent practice often works even better.
Why does it help?
โ
Lengthens the calf under load โ
Improves tendon health โ
Reduces stress on the plantar fascia โ
Improves ankle mobility โ
Can even help you squat deeper
Remember...
Don't just stretch your calves. Teach them to get stronger while they lengthen.
That combination is often what helps stubborn calf pain and plantar fasciitis finally improve.
๐ Save this exercise. ๐ค Share it with someone whose first steps in the morning hurt.
If your pain isn't improving or keeps coming back, an evaluation can help identify why it's happening and build a plan that's specific to you.
๐จ Headaches. Neck pain. Shoulder pain. Pain down your arm?
Your shoulders may be the reason.
๐ Look at yourself right now.
Are your shoulders creeping up toward your ears?
If you work at a desk ๐ป, drive often ๐, or spend time on your phone ๐ฑ, there's a good chance they are.
When your shoulders stay elevated all day, your upper traps and scalenes end up doing a job they weren't meant to do.
Over time, those muscles can become tight and irritated, leading to: โ
Headaches โ
Neck pain โ
Shoulder pain โ
Pain, numbness, or tingling into the arm
Here's a simple habit to practice:
๐ Put your elbows in your back pockets.
That cue helps turn on your latsโthe large muscles in your back that are built to support your arms.
๐ก Less work for your neck. ๐ช More support from your back.
You don't need to force your shoulders down.
Just let them relax away from your ears while gently engaging your lats.
One small habit...
Repeated hundreds of times each day...
Can change how your neck feels over time.
If this sounds like you, an evaluation can help determine whether the way you're holding your shoulders is contributing to your pain.

"Your MRI says 'mild.' Your body says 'I can't even get out of bed.' So who's right?"
If you've ever been told your scan looks "pretty normal," while you're living with severe pain every day, you're not imagining it.
This is one of the biggest reasons people feel frustrated after seeing multiple providers.
Because they're hurting...
And the pictures don't seem to explain why.
Here's what many people don't realize:
An MRI or X-ray only shows certain tissues.
It doesn't tell us how your muscles are working.
It doesn't measure muscle tension.
It doesn't show muscle guarding.
It doesn't reveal trigger points.
And it doesn't tell us whether the muscles around a joint have been overworking for weeks or months.
That matters because muscles can create a surprising amount of pain.
In fact, this is something we see almost every day.
Someone comes in with severe shoulder pain.
Their MRI shows a small amount of tendinosis.
Or mild bursitis.
Or maybe nothing significant at all.
Yet they can barely lift their arm.
Why?
Because sometimes the tendon isn't the biggest pain generator.
The muscles surrounding the shoulder have tightened, become overloaded, and started protecting the area.
That protection is helpful at first.
Over time, though, those muscles can become part of the problem.
The same thing happens with the neck...
The low back...
The hips...
Even the knees.
65% of reoccurring pain can be traced back to muscle origins.
