The Cardinal Mooney community mourns the passing of Dr. Louis Edward Soscia, a longtime member of the Mooney family, who passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 89.

Dr. Soscia and his wife, Diana, were the proud parents of three Cardinal Mooney graduates, Lisa, William, and Juliet. During his years as an OB/GYN in the Venice community, Dr. Soscia also generously shared his time and medical expertise with Cardinal Mooney, serving as a team doctor for Cougar athletics.

A devoted Catholic, physician, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dr. Soscia leaves a lasting legacy of faith, family, service, and care for others.

We extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the Soscia family and all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.

🎓 Celebrating Our Alumni | Class of 1966 ❤️💛

With Homecoming season approaching, we’re excited to highlight the Cardinal Mooney alumni classes celebrating milestone reunions this year!

We’re starting with the Class of 1966, who celebrated their 60th Reunion in May with a fun-filled evening at Mean Dean’s in Bradenton. It was wonderful to see classmates reconnect, reminisce, share stories and celebrate friendships that began at Cardinal Mooney six decades ago.

❤️💛 Congratulations to the Class of 1966 on 60 years! Once a Cougar, always a Cougar!

This Homecoming, we’ll also be celebrating our reunion classes of 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2016, and we can’t wait to welcome our alumni home!

It is with great excitement that we announce the call for nominations for our Athletic Hall of Fame!

The Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame honors former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, teams, and contributors who have demonstrated outstanding athletic achievements while a student-athlete at Cardinal Mooney Catholic, or outstanding contributions as a coach at the school, and/or outstanding support to Athletics.
Alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to nominate outstanding graduates who have made a lasting impact through their athletic accomplishments, leadership, service, and dedication to others. Nominees must have graduated from Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School at least ten years ago. We are proud to recognize the accomplishments of our alumni in all areas of life, including professional achievement, community service, faith, education, athletics, and leadership.
A selection committee composed of Athletic Hall of Fame members will review all nominations to select the honorees. Inductees will be honored at our Homecoming Game on Friday, October 9th as part of the Homecoming Week Events.

Congratulations to recent graduate Maya Brodowska '26 on an extraordinary achievement! Her AP Research study “Tea Tree Oil in Conjunction with Vancomycin-Coated Bioprosthetic Valve Models: Effects on the Susceptibility of S. Epidermidis,” has been published in the National High School Journal of Science, a peer-reviewed scientific publication—a remarkable accomplishment for a high school researcher.
Maya's success was strengthened through collaboration with fellow Cardinal Mooney graduate Michael Lunin '21, now a Clinical Research Assistant with the UF Health Cancer Institute Phase 1 Team, who served as her mentor throughout the project.
At Cardinal Mooney, students don't just prepare for college—they conduct meaningful research, collaborate with professionals, and achieve at the highest levels. We are incredibly proud of Maya, Michael, and the academic excellence they represent.
