Math is everywhere… in the rhythms we hear, the shapes we see, and the stories we share.

Join us for Math in Motion: Arts-Integrated Learning at Patriot Plaza, a hands-on experience where families, students, and educators explore math through movement, music, design, and history.

Discover geometry in monument design, explore fractions through flag folding, experience rhythm and ratios with the Sarasota Military Academy Drum Line, and engage in data storytelling rooted in civic remembrance.

This place-based event brings math to life through art, creativity, care, and community.

Did you know? Around Christmas time in 1914, a series of unofficial ceasefires occurred all along the Western Front. Letters and diaries from World War I soldiers provide true accounts of how opposing sides laid down their arms and crossed trenches to sing, exchange gifts, and bury the dead.

“All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” is an a ca****la holiday musical based on these real moments of humanity that emerged amidst the destruction of war. On Saturday, Dec. 20, experience this powerful reminder of peace and compassion in the sacred setting of Patriot Plaza at Sarasota National Cemetery, as Asolo Repertory Theatre performs highlights of All is Calm, free to the community, alongside local performers honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans and military families.

Did you know? Located in the heart of Sarasota National Cemetery, Patriot Plaza is a 2,800-seat ceremonial amphitheater featuring artwork illustrating the experiences of America’s veterans and their loved ones across generations. The Patterson Foundation fully funded the $12 million design and construction of Patriot Plaza to honor veterans, inspire patriotism, and embrace freedom through a partnership with the National Cemetery Administration — the first collaboration between private philanthropy and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on an enhancement of this magnitude at a national cemetery.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, you can experience this sacred setting during All is Calm: In Concert at Patriot Plaza. Featuring highlights from Asolo Rep’s acclaimed production “All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914,” this concert will be an unforgettable afternoon of peace, compassion, and humanity for guests of all ages.
